Negative experience: Pavlos the senior PT is an excellent guy and very good at being a PT he would get 5 stars! It's just that nothing else is good, it needs a complete overhaul. The showers are disgusting and they smell, the toilets are even worse. I don't think they ever clean the wash rooms. Management should read the reviews as I think it's been a problem for quite a while.
Fantastic experience: The decor is a bit run down, but the staff are nice and it has all the equipment you need (and in a well maintained state).
Negative experience: I have been a member for a few years, its grim, old machines, dirty changing rooms, literally smells of human excrement as you walk into the changing rooms, cleaning staff are often screaming into their phones in the changing rooms pretending to work, rather than cleaning, staff only stay a few months here, maybe 8-10 different managers since I joined who are always really nice, always reasons the pool/ sauna is shut for some excuse, there are always classes on and its quite strange having 20 women walk past on their way to a belly dancing session via the weights area every hour. I don't know what is going on but the side rooms are used for additional businesses including covid testing and thats quite weird. I like this gym, for the same reasons I like the smelly old man pub near where I grew up. Its horrible, smelly, pretty worn out, but it just feels like home. Lets just enjoy it for what it is, till its redeveloped into an Equinox and costs 5 times the amount per month to be a member.
Negative experience: Better than lifting rocks under a bridge or swimming in the Thames. The sauna? Imagine the Central Line during a tube strike, only stickier, dirtier, and with the vibe of a panic room. An 'isolated incident' of someone spitting on the floor really highlights the quality of the clientele. When there’s a leak, they roll out buckets like they’re shooting Titanic 2: Still Sinking. The equipment hasn’t been updated since the Thatcher administration and is falling apart. Every rep feels like a gamble between fitness and a trip to A&E. The steam room smells like human excrement at times, and weekends are packed with free-pass freeloaders, it feels like higher management’s running a human Tetris experiment for overcrowding. The staff are nice, and the cleaners are doing what they can, probably overworked and underpaid To reflect the above, they’ve even put the fees up, clearly competing with the London Dungeon experience.
Negative experience: The old lady has always been rude to customers while other stuff are quite friendly
Negative experience: BELIEVE THE TERRIBLE REVIEWS. I speak from 5 years experience. The equipment is ancient, while areas are regularly shut down, the men's showers are leaking and out of service, the gym is generally filthy in spite of the cleaners, the attitude of the staff ranges from nice to very unfriendly and lazy, the WiFi is hopeless and jams your phone, the dumbells are missing weights, half the members are disgusting blokes with an attitude problem who don't wash their hands after doing a ****, they're removing sanitiser wipes and gels, and after two years of a gym offering this level of dreadful service they just put everyone's membership UP. Nuffield Health should be ashamed to own this gym. I should have left ages ago. Now I'm gone.
Negative experience: They got rid of the one unique thing, the hydrotherapy area… and the worst part is they replaced it with nothing. Just concrete.
Fantastic experience: Emmanuel and Adela were both fantastic at welcoming me as a new member and getting me set up at Covent Garden Nuffield Health gym. It's rare to get good customer service I find these days, but these two professionals have restored my faith and belief that it still exists. Thank you both...I look forward to restarting my membership.

Fantastic experience: Overall my experience at Nuffield Covent Garden has been positive. Although the equipment is a little dated it has everything you need. Training with Gabriela was brilliant. Her knowledge and patience set me on the path to fitness. Thank you too to Adela in the membership team who supported me to find the best membership so that I can continue my fitness journey.

Negative experience: Whoa - this gym has gone downhill. I was a member until 2019, and recently visited on a day pass. No air conditioning, the weight plates are mostly damaged, the damp problem has become much worse, deadlift platform removed, water tap removed, jacuzzi removed, swimsuit dryer removed, and still full of staring men in the spa. All for an increased price.

Positive experience: Staff are friendly, useful use of clean tools. The pool, steam and sauna are clean and not usually that busy. The gym itself is well equipped with free weights and majority Hammer Strength machines. The leg press is a useful piece. Lots of cardio options.
Positive experience: Been going to this gym a few years now and have always had a lovely experience the team at this Nuffield are great and Sim was very helpful in guiding me through any problems that occurred!
Fantastic experience: Staff are incredibly helpful at this branch. Sem & Tia were really welcoming and so friendly, which creates such a positive experience for everyone. The gym equipment is well maintained and the whole gym and changing rooms are constantly being cleaned. Would definitely recommend!

Negative experience: I ve been a member here since well before Nuffield took over, since that time, whilst the staff have been mostly very good, the state of the building and the quality and tardiness of maintenance has been in steady ongoing decline - unlike the fees, which keep going up despite the reduced facilities - I used the jacuzzi regularly but no deduction for the removal of that, nor for my customer loyalty. I have raised these issues directly with the team but was just told they have problems with the local maintenance contractors and also that it’s a not for profit business - supposedly an excuse for the shoddiness - by contrast with the gleaming extensive facilities at the Cannon St branch. Well whatever the technical justification is for that charitable status for part of the company, the gym charges are certainly not set at ‘not for profit’ levels. Having just read the reviews here, I see that I am far from alone in my perceptions. It feels as if Nuffield is just running it down until it can get out of the lease. Surely better to make a major investment in upgrading to make this Covent Garden branch the sort of lucrative destination flagship gym you would expect of a company like Nuffield in such a prime location!

Positive experience: I like that they supply towels and the staff are friendly. It is also conveniently located in Covent garden. The facilities and machines are a bit tired, and with not too much effort they could bring up the standard with some cleaning and maintenance. A good amount of equipment and a steam and sauna room as well as a pool.

Negative experience: I attended on a gym tour and a man named Mo was incredibly unkind and unprofessional making inappropriate comments and on his phone the whole time and disregarded all my queries I personally would not recommend this gym and urge that immediate action is taken to raise standards

Negative experience: If it were possible to give 0 stars, I would. Granted I didn't make it past the front door. An unbranded staff member greeted me on arrival, I asked if I could use my monthly guest pass, to allow a friend to join me. He said I didn't have one, which is untrue as I hadn't used any. I tried to show him my contract which said I have a monthly guest pass, to which he said, doesn't matter, they're only for classes, again, not true. There were some exchanges back and forth trying to plead my case, I even said I'd pay to let my friend in, he continued to be rude, and called me a knobhead. so I walked out. Fantastic experience: I’ve really enjoyed working with Dana so far and opted to train with her due to having a very specific goal of swimming the English Channel and a more specialist approach to weight training was required. Negative experience: I've been using this gym for a year. Unfortuantely the weights room and the spa was shut for a lot of that but I'm hoping now the refurbishment will fix a lot of the issues. The location is fantastic and the staff are really friendly. It's not too busy unlikely other Nuffield gyms which is great as you don't have to wait for equipment.

Negative experience: The gym is ok but NOT enough good for the location Covent Garden. Inside looks like a labyrinth with just a few indications/signs. Very easy to get lost. When I became a member there was the jacuzzi and then without communication they decided to close it forever (not temporary for the covid sitution). Reason why I joined that branch was the jacuzzi. Once, I forgot to extend the "froozen" period as I could not go in that month but they charged me as a normal month (the delay in my communication was only about a couple of day). Basically the stuff is very "unprofessional" expecially in terms of communication. An important gym chain in a very nice location like Covent Garden should be more professional and nicer...... goung to gym should be relaxing.....

Negative experience: This branch had to refurbish one of the weights rooms because of a leak they finally fixed after 2 months and haven't returned all the equipment apart from 4 benches and a few dumbells , they used to have a Smith machine a rack for squatting and more. I recently overheard a staff member mentioning that they won't be returning that equipment. Why?? Now they have limited equipment and a huge area that is waisted. What on earth am I paying for ??

Negative experience: The worst Nuffield in London. Don't be fooled by the spa pictures, they have filled it in, a very short sighted head office decission as its the biggest thing for people justifying the big membership prices. The whole place is tired and in need of a fitout.

Fantastic experience: I visited for the first time this afternoon. The staff were very helpful and answered my queries. I am used to Technogym equipment so it was a change when I had to use the Life Fitness TM. I had to press a few more buttons than usual but I got there ... The steamroom is one of the hotest I have tried so was happy with that. I will definitely return for another workout

Negative experience: Wendy is so pedantic and takes her bootcamp classes way too seriously! I was running 3 minutes late because of delays on the tube and she wouldn’t let me participate in the class. And there was literally a girl who walked in right in front of me who she allowed take the class, so unfair and arbitrary. Please chill a bit, most of us aren’t training to be in the olympics so there’s no need to be so harsh

Failure to adequately warm up increases the chance of injury and can also unfortunately impact the flow and timing of a class that has already started. Positive experience: Good sauna and steam. Pool only 2 and a half lanes. It’s all underground but the high ceiling and lighting make it somewhat airy. Bring padlock, slippers, swimsuit. Towels, shower gel and conditioner are provided

Negative experience: Editing this review down to two stars as over the past few months things have got worse. Half the gym floor has been out of action for the last couple of weeks due to a flood, and from the sign they’ve erected it’s going to be at least two more weeks until it’s fixed. This means much of the equipment is inaccessible, and some of it has been moved to the rest of the gym which, in my opinion, has created some dangerous spaces where things are too close together. Two of the shower cubicles have also been out of action for a couple of weeks, the locker situation is going downhill and even the ones where the lock actually locks sometimes have doors hanging off hinges. There was a huge flood in the changing room this week which, apart from a couple of towels on the floor and a yellow no slip sign, didn’t seem to be receiving much attention. This is a sizeable gym from a well known brand in a fantastic location but it seems to be suffering from a huge lack of investment. Original Review: Parts of the gym are good, but for a central location a lot of it is substandard. A lot of the lockers don’t lock, the numbers on a lot of the kettlebells and dumbells have long worn off making it hard to know what weight they are, and they play loud radio adverts over the speakers instead of consistent music

Negative experience: I am member of Nuffield gym in South Wales and enquired about using this gym while working in London. The staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful and when I visited the state of the gym is a disgrace considering its twice the price and half the size of my home Nuffield gym. Terrible waste of money at an extra £7.50 each visit, considering I am a member already.

Negative experience: Have access to cheap 24 hours gym with treadmills and weights. I specifically signed up to Nuffield at start of membership to be able to use their water facilities inc pools and post workout relaxation areas, across all their sites (ie. including most expensive ones with best facilities). Was not told they have closed all heated water facilities at time of sign up. Will not let user pause or cancel membership except at start of next month.

Positive experience: Although this Nuffield is located within a high profile location in central London, the maintenance of the facilities and equipment contained within do not reach the same standard. Throughout the year, ever increasing numbers of gym equipment are out of order, the showers fail, the toilets are frequently quite horrible, consistently poor sound quality from the audio equipment in the studios - there just seems to be a steady state of decline in the place. It’s a shame, as other aspects of the club are excellent - the instructors who teach the various Les Mills classes are excellent and there is a friendly atmosphere. But it just feels faintly depressing walking around the place compared to other Nuffield gyms.

Negative experience: Emergency 01-09-2022 Please Anyone was in gym that day 8:30pm you confirm that. A girl had a stroke while she was running on the treadmill and fall down on the floor shaking and can’t talk or move. All the staffs was there in 10 seconds (receptionists, trainers, security, cleaners) but no one of them know what he need to do!!!! They was shouting in the gym look for anyone work in medical! Okay nd we are lucky a nurse was there (gym’s member) and he said if we wait till ambulance she will be dead cause she swollen her tongue and couldn’t breath but anyone did the emergency first aid course should know how to deal with that but i think all gym staffs have fake licenses or the staffs are friends and family of the gym’s owner. Because no one can be a personal trainer or security without having the emergency first aid license and when you apply for a job in the gym first they ask you about that. So you need to make sure all your staffs or half of them at least knows how to practice that course ( emergency first aid) not just on papers cause this time we are lucky a gym’s member was a nurse but maybe next time we will not find one!

Negative experience: A Grim Gym. Having been to other Nuffield Gyms, this is substandard in ways that makes chains like The Gym look like a premium experience. Really old equipment, some of which is regularly broken or with bits falling off. Air con that's ineffective in the free weights area and broken in the mens changing room. Filthy grubby free weights with chips off the plates and numbers that are barely readable. The rubber handles are coming off of weights machines and are, quite frankly, unhygienic considering we've recently had a pandemic. The water fountains have no pressure - so they're either unusable or take forever to fill your bottle. The changing rooms have locker doors that are broken or falling off. Lastly, all of the equipment is filthy, with dust, grime and all manner of hairs on it. Overall it just makes it seem like the poor staff are being left to patch things where they can and make do. It's pretty clear from how long they've been getting this feedback they've little to no interest in making it better or making it work for the paying patrons.

Negative experience: Came in to join and asked the reception if I could leave my rented bike somewhere as it’ll get stolen if I leave it outside. The lady on the front desk (Eastern European) said “not my problem” I was quite shocked and won’t be joining here ! It’s a shame as I travelled quite a way by bike to join.

Negative experience: Use to be decent but the amount of things thst break and take months to fix ie shower nr pool is not on. Also seems to attract noisy people who have ruined the vibe when trying to relax in spa. Won't be returning sadly

Positive experience: I've been a Nuffield member for many years and this, along with the one in Battersea, are comfortably the most dilapidated Nuffield Health gyms that I've visited. More akin to something you'd have expected to find in East Germany during the cold war. Long, winding hallways, light green walls and old equipment. Can't say much with regards to the pool and sauna as I haven't visited - looks OK in the photos. It's a shame as it could be brilliant, if they used some of their CAPEX on it. The City Nuffield is an example of turning an ordinary building into a fantastic gym. My expectation is that they're winding the lease down and will let it go once that's up.

Positive experience: Professional, friendly staff. Pool seems to be quite clean, gym floor is filled with equipment in need of maintenance, a little penetrative oil and light scrub would have most of the equipment operating properly, also appears to be a leak in the weights area on a structural pillar... certainly worth carrying out some maintenance on it. Nuffield need to invest some money into this branch or risk their reputation given this is the heart of london, tourist may try this gym and convey its the most shoddy gym they've seen

Positive experience: Been here for some yoga classes. Yet to try their swimming pool. Nice layout for with space in central London. Staff seem friendly, honest and helpful. Though have to say that the ladies changing room smells of damp mould and each visit do notice a lot of wasted water from leaky shower taps. I prefer the shower gel and conditioner here (smells of coconut) in comparison to the shower gel in their City (Cousin St) branch.
Fantastic experience: I normally use another place for PCR testing when travelling. I wasn't sure if they did the RT-PCR one which is needed for the UAE so came here. Glad I did as they are much cheaper than other places! Hence why they were so busy. You need to book an appointment and pay in advance. Even for same day it is cheaper. They only do the nasal swab. Not sore but uncomfortable. Despite how busy they were, service was good. I was seen to quickly. Area was clean. Efficient. I was in and out within 15 minutes. Results were emailed to me 4 hours later as I chose same day. I was a bit nervous due to how busy they were especially as most people were having next day results and I worried my sample may have been misplaced amongst the other ones. When you check in and register, make sure you confirm what turnaround time you booked and they put the correct sticker on your sample. Before coming in, you must register via the email link and they send you a code. Make sure your name, date of birth, passport number and email are correct. The certificate will reference these and the result will be emailed to you. Conveniently located on a side street near Covent Garden station. My only negative is if you try and call or email them, nobody answers nor do they get back to you! I am happy with the negative test and fit to fly!
Fantastic experience: I recently decided to re-join Covent Garden Nuffield after the lockdown. It is evident the new management team have put in great work - the reception team were highly professional and helpful and the PTs were very knowledgeable and willing to help me. The club itself was clean and well-managed with COVID. I would highly recommended joining this club to anyone considering it.

Negative experience: Not happy with my experience at all. Rang three times in the afternoon at different, but nobody answered the phone. Made the journey from North London to buy a day pass but they said they only sell them if you come in with a member. But other Nuffield clubs have been selling them to me in the last couple of weeks. Now if you bothered to answer your phone I wouldn't have made that journey across London! This inconsistent approach as regards day passes is hardly likely to tempt me to sign up any time soon. So rather than wasting any time with this shower, walk 5 minutes up the road to the YMCA, which has a larger gym, sauna, steam room and pool. And its cheaper!
Positive experience: I've been a member since 2018, the facilities aren't perfect and could do with some upgrades, but what the gym loses in facilities it makes up for in the quality of staff. I'm yet to encounter anyone who works there who is not friendly or helpful, the instructors whose classes I attend always make the effort to give you a great, fun workout and offer up coaching and support in the class. I regularly attend Vicky's, Deb's and Jon's classes. Improvement areas I would say are 1) the ladies changing rooms are regularly closed for essential maintenance and there is often a leak in the lower ground ladies changing room. Hopefully this was fixed during lock down. 2) the timetable really could to with a bit more variety and expanding the instructor classes on offer. Looking at the timetable there are gaps during the day which could be filled with more classes as more and more people are able to organise flexible working with their employers (so lunchtime classes could cover a 3 hour block rather than the usual 1.5). This may have to wait until things settle back to normal after lock down, but definitely worth thinking about (and / or possibly even streaming classes from the studios??).

Negative experience: Very unpleasant experience. The girl working at the desk this morning was so rude that i would be happy to pay their overpriced fee just to get to punch her face.
Negative experience: A bit of a dungeon, dirty and creepy and claustrophobic - peeling wallpaper and damp smell everywhere. Would not recommend. Other Nuffields are much better - this is like a totally different brand of gyms! The staff were seriously unhelpful and dismissive. I had clearly not used this gym before and they did not offer to explain where anything was.
Negative experience: Worse gym ever.Some staff at Nuffield don't know how to handle sexual-harassment complaints to protect their customers.Female staff put the phone down on me because standards are very low.I have found that male staff are well- mannered,polite,civil,cooperative.Gym is ok if you don't complain about anything if you do then you will find about the poor customer service.
Negative experience: Useless service and very disappointed with opening hours on sunday..if you have a busy working life this gym is not for you..I think opening and closing hours just for people who can come any time..next year definitely different gym..
Negative experience: The gym is very small, they did a refurbishment on the work out area and after was completed they removed half of the equipments (bad move). The shower are not well cleaned, the changing rooms and the toilets are very dirty at least at the males changing room. They simple doesn’t care about the operations side of the business. The location is the only reason why this gym is busy, also the guys at the welcome desk are very nice.

Don't join as you will regret it after you buy your money as for the month of November the spa feiceltes broken down so you can't use the pool ,steam room ,sauna and the spa I asked to be refunded the month of November or to be credited for the month of December after they fixed the spa so rudely be rejected I escalated to head office and then done nothing about it so I needed to contact my bank to got my money back so safe your money and to avoid any headache look for an other gym group .

Fantastic experience: I joined because they were offering a great deal. Based on previous reviews my expectations were low, but this gym is great - new machines, staff is fine (ie helpful but unobtrusive), changing room clean and spacious. Maybe they got a lot better recently, but my experience has been only positive, compared to other Nuffield clubs in London and other clubs generally.
Positive experience: Quality equipment but needs improvement. Also the staff are not so friendly.
Negative experience: Staff vary from basically hating you for being there to passing indifference. Towels cover the changing rooms after a peak period. At least it's usually fairly clean.

Negative experience: Terrible. Considering the premium price I pay for this gym I feel extremely disappointed in the level of equipment and cleanliness. There aren't enough machines, the ones that are available are inadequate and there's another bunch that have been out of services for ages. I should have stuck with Better and have the same level of service at half the price.

Negative experience: It is with much reluctance that I've put in my notice for membership here. I've hung in there for nearly two years, but a culmination of factors have made it impossible to stay true to this gym. Staff attitudes lately are atrocious (weren't great at best of times), restricted use of pool regularly due to lifesaving lessons, cleaner managing to skive off a large portion of her shift wedged between open locker doors, most other staff conspicuous by their absence, smell of mildew in showers and then a letter to say my membership fee was going up by a whopping 25%. Nuffield used to be a name synonymous with good health - not anymore. "Nuff already" I'm going elsewhere.
