Since The Better You Project began in 2010, we have been coaching people to achieve their ultimate health, happiness and confidence.
We understand that there is a lot of information out there and it can be hard to know what to turn to first, so our ethos in everything that we do is to find a balance that compliments our clients lifestyle instead of complicating it.
The Better YOU Project - DC Total Fitness isn't here to just change the weight on the scales, or lift slightly heavier weights but we pride ourselves in getting our clients to achieve a lifestyle transformation where they have the knowledge and empowerment to live their healthiest, happiest and most confident life.

Fantastic experience: I first started training with David and Anna almost three years ago. Before that, I had spent many years with Weight Watchers and Slimming World, and my relationship with food and exercise had become truly unhealthy. Reaching out to David and Anna was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I have never looked back, and they have genuinely changed my life for the better. From the very beginning, David took the time to sit down with me and really understand my lifestyle. Both he and Anna have supported me in all the areas I needed help, and together they’ve guided me every step of the way. Fantastic experience: I haven't actually been with these guys for long, as recently found out I'm pregnant, But Here's some information about me!!! I have fibre m, a weak hip, and knee , I also struggled with food, and mentle health. I tried so many times to loose weight, but I just couldn't, I have 3 children with needs and wanted to be healthier for them and myself. I wanted to be in less pain and to have a better mindset. I also had no motivation, haha Honestly , in the months I've been with these guys. I now drink water everyday !!!! I now am eating, and alot healthier !!! A alot of the time I'd skip meals, most days I wouldn't even eat, I don't know how david did it. But wow he has changed my life. My fibre is much more manageable now, you will always get the odd flair ups, my pain was way over a 10, it's definitely dropped to a 4, My mentle health seems a lot more stable now, I tell you. David is magic!!!!! He is one of the most funniest humans you will ever meet. I guess I just needed someone to match my vibe and help me on this journey, he made me feel like I was at home, I'm actually gutted to be temp leaving but after my baby i will be back ♡♡♡♡

Fantastic experience: Over the past six months, working with David has been nothing short of transformational. I've always been someone interested in self-improvement—I've watched countless YouTube videos, read books, and tried various techniques on my own. But having someone truly 1-on-1, who takes the time to understand me as an individual, has been a complete game changer. Throughout our time working together, David has helped me address a wide variety of areas in my life—ranging from simple but powerful improvements like getting better sleep and implementing daily habits, to much deeper work around understanding and overcoming imposter syndrome. His ability to recognize what needs attention and provide the right tools—whether it’s reframing negative thoughts, introducing grounding techniques like breathing exercises, or just helping create clarity around goals—has made a massive difference. The flexibility in sessions is another huge plus. If I ever feel like dedicating a session to building a fitness plan or diving into nutrition, David is completely accommodating and supportive, making each session feel tailored to what I need in that moment. Fantastic experience: David and Anna have been instrumental in my continued mental and physical development in the last 2 years. They are more than a simple personal trainer, they offer everything you need to progress in every area of your life (personal, business, health…), from regular catch ups, to exercise programmes and group activities.
Fantastic experience: I’ve trained with David and Anna for the best part of 4 years now, not only are their training sessions enjoyable and painful (in a good sense!) but the coaching and time they put in outside of the gym is second to none with regular check ins and messages of support to help keep you on target towards achieving your goals!! Fantastic experience: 3 months in and the results are incredible. David and Anna are there every step of the way when you need them. All I can go on is where I started and where I am now but I’m the lightest I’ve been in years, have so much more energy and with a more positive attitude. Fantastic experience: I initially trained with David back in 2011 when he got me into tiptop shape for competition. I then moved away and ended up gaining 20kg of fat. Anyway after another chat with David 11 years later he promised to get me back to my competing ways. Him and Anna not only motivated me to lose the 20kg of fat I had gained but also to lose a further 11kg totalling in a 31kg loss and still going. My confidence has been boosted and I am back to my old self with my blood results better than ever. I work out at 6am daily and have regular messages from David and Anna checking in on me as part of the better you project. They make me feel happy and I am thankful for there knowledge to get me where I am today. Keep up the good work. You're lifestyle coaching really works. Fantastic experience: I started training with David just before the gyms started to re open and I’m so glad I did! David has taught me sooo much about food and about working out. I’ve had many laughs even on the days when I couldn’t be bothered to go. My main goal was to fit into my wedding dress that I brought and couldn’t even do up and with in the 5/6 months of training with David we got there and even had a bit of room to move around in. Fantastic experience: I have been training with David for almost a year and during that time I managed to get down to my lowest weight for maybe 25-30 years. He is an extremely good trainer with plenty of encouragement and praise without being too pushy. He makes the sessions fun, plus always checks on your wellbeing outside of sessions. Fantastic experience: I started training with David @ DC Fitness in early 2013. With a busy lifestyle I have always struggled to dedicate time to achieving my desired goals. When I joined DC Fitness, I was at my heaviest and very unhappy, David taught me how to maintain and reduce my weight even whilst I wasn’t in the gym. He has helped me to continue to push through my Plateaus (almost like a wall where you can’t get past a certain weight) to achieve over 10kg’s of weight loss and continue to maintain a steady weight. In one instance where I was struggling to see further change, David asked me if I wanted to take a DNA make up test to evaluate if there was more to why we weren’t seeing change, he was right. We establish what my intolerances were and I was able to make changes to my diet which helped me push past a very difficult plateau. Not only has be helped me physically achieve my goals but he has been an amazing mental coach too. He listens and helps with fitness but also try’s to help pick up your general mood from the smiles, regular check up messages and genuine care for his customers. I could not recommend a better all round PT to help you achieve your goals, thank you David.

Fantastic experience: Signing up with David has been one of the best decisions I've made. I needed a lifestyle change and David has been the best motivator. It's been so much more than losing my target weight of 2 stone (which was much easier and more fun than expected!!). but also a brilliant tonic through the Covid period - whether in person or virtual. If he has a space (not often - for good reason!) I don't think you'll find anyone better!

Fantastic experience: I originally started with David from a recommendation from a local Facebook group, to whip me in shape for my wedding. Despite being a absolute rascal, who loves the vino. I lost over 57 cm round my body, which is a huge achievement as I like to go out and enjoy myself and have a busy social calendar. I can also say he has made me feel happier, healthier and more energetic in all areas of my life. He’s not to bad to spend a few hours a week with either. Fantastic experience: I have been training with David for about 4 months and have already seen positive changes in my overall strength both physically and mentally. David goes above and beyond to provide a training program which suits your needs with a tailored and realistic food plan. I’ve learnt a lot technically about how to train to prevent injury and how to maximise my time exercising, with a whole range of routines. If he doesn’t know the answer to your welcomed questions, you can be sure he will go find out in a heartbeat! No one session is the same!! David’s personality will without doubt give you an injection of energy to push through a hard work-out while making you laugh. With David you don’t just get a personal trainer but a top mate who looks after your mental wellbeing to. His messages throughout the week will definitely catch your attention and leave you constantly motivated to reach your goals. Fantastic experience: I have been training with David for almost a year now and what a year it has been, I have loved every minute of it. I initially contacted David after many failed attempts to get back into some kind of fitness routine which, being a working mum, wife …. always seemed to come at the bottom of the priority list for far too long. David has not only made a massive difference to my fitness and strength, but far more importantly for me, training with him every week has given me confidence that I'd not really realised I had lost and made a huge improvement to my general wellbeing. Each week is tailored to suit me, we have trained through an ongoing shoulder injury, which has not as yet returned (something regular physio didn't achieve). I regularly hear from David, whether that be a message of encouragement, news or info he thinks may be of interest or just a general check to see how things are going. I cant think of one negative word to say about David. He is great fun, kind, personal yet professional, a wealth of knowledge, and his positivity is infectious beyond belief. Fantastic experience: I’ve been training with David for just over a year now, and have started having more regular sessions in the last 6-7 months. I first went along to a session with my mum, as I’d not long fractured my ankle and was struggling with recovery, both physically and from a confidence point of view. I’m so glad I went to that first session as David was so friendly from the get go, and helped me so much with getting my ankle working again and giving me the confidence to get back to netball. He gave me loads of exercises to do at home and tailored the sessions to build up strength in my ankle again. Since then he’s helped me build up my fitness and lose weight I’ve been trying to lose for I don’t know how long! I honestly look forward to every session so much, even on mornings when I don’t feel like exercising David manages to get me back to myself within about 5 minutes of stepping through the door! Every session is completely different to the last and at the same time they’re tailored to you and what goals you want to achieve. David is an awesome PT / person in general and would recommend him 1000 times over ☺️

I first started training with David a number of years ago when I felt like I'd plateaued with my own training in the gym Plateau - 'reach a state of little or no change after a period of activity or progress' I required a trainer who cared about MY progress, to keep me on the straight and narrow with my diet and exercise. I wanted change and needed help which David provided. David's personal touch to all aspects of what DC Total Fitness have to offer is something I have not experienced before with other personal trainers. Dc Total Fitness has given me the confidence to believe in myself that I can achieve my goals, in and out of the gym.

The actual exercise side of it is of course great and is proven by the results he helps you to achieve, however what makes Dave a great trainer in my opinion are the other aspects he offers... Motivation - regularly contacting you to see how you are doing, how exercise/diet is progressing, and just in general to see how your overall wellbeing is. Great health knowledge - I have a long-standing muscular issue caused by a previous injury - of which Dave is very knowledgeable and has given me great tips to avoid further injuries Keeping things fresh - Dave is a happy, upbeat person who understands that training can get boring and stale so does his best to make sessions fun and engaging week in, week out. Would highly recommend to anybody looking for more than just your average PT

Fantastic experience: I have been training with David for 10 months and have found his personal, pro-active and rounded approach much more effective that other training I have tried over the years and am feeling much leaner, fitter and stronger as a result.
Fantastic experience: I have been training at DC Total Fitness in Reading for nearly a year and over this time I have found my love for training again - even if I still struggle to motivate myself to stay away from Prosecco :0) I can only say from my positive experience that it has been fun filled and a lot of laughter in every session I have done. He knows his stuff but unlike previous trainers I have trained with around the area, he manages to get the best out me with out having to shout and scream. He is always constructive and ever improving by using apps that I can instantly access on my phone and he seems to be like big brother helping me with nutrition and my activity to keep me being on top form. Whenever you need motivation, knowledge or a home workout plan to do, he's on the end of the phone (although he usually sends these out each week before you need to ask!). Each session has been completely unique and very challenging at times. Every month, David has a ‘gym challenge’ that puts every client against each other to achieve more than you would normally. His gym is like my own personal gym in that hour and if you lack a bit of confidence in a big commercial gym environment, he is still affordable whether you’re looking for someone to kick start a healthier lifestyle or a long term fitness plan. He has a range of high quality equipment, which further adds to his own expertise to produce a fantastic service. I would highly recommend David at DC Total Fitness for anyone looking for a personal trainer in the Reading area and I look forward to continuing training with him.
Fantastic experience: David continues to motivate me to exercise and to watch what I eat. David is very supportive, he’s on hand whenever you need him to keep you on track. Too many times in the past I’d work hard for a couple of months only to slip back into old habits. I’ve achieved all of my interim goals and more with David, lost weight and gained strength. Fantastic experience: I trained with David a while ago now and lost over 2 stone, it completely changed my life! I never used to be into fitness at all or healthy eating, he showed me how to live my my life with out making to many sacrifices along the way while achieving my goals. He had completely changed my outlook on nutrition and helped me along the way. Fantastic experience: I came to David, overweight with high blood pressure and within a matter of months, I was back down into the safety zone. So along with pretty much saving my life David has given me more confidence within myself and become truly one of my best friends. His positive outlook on life is infectious and our sessions a real pleasure, even if I drive him crazy not filling out my food diary :-) He's always there for me day or night and really cares about his clients, it's not just about the time in the sessions it's everything else he does, the constant encouragement and guidance are invaluable. David really puts the personal in personal trainer and I wouldn't change anything about him or the way he works.
Fantastic experience: I have been training with David on and off for a few years and thought I should write a review for him, as he has done so much for me. I go through phases of getting really fit and motivated like lots of people do. He has always been there for me whether im training or not. He always keeps in contact even when im not training (I have just started again after over a year) and is always at the end of the phone or WhatsApp to give you a bit of a pep talk or advice. I cannot thank him enough for all the effort and care he puts in to make me feel the happiest and healthiest I can be. Doing it all with a touch of his own unique madness (which is why I always go back).

Fantastic experience: I have been going to DC Total Fitness for over a year now and can not highly recommend it enough. I have changed the way I exercise and I get the most effective and enjoyable workouts without having to spend hours in the gym. He’s very down to earth guy and takes my situation on a individual need and always focuses me towards my goals. I have got fitter, stronger and definitely more athletic looking with my time with him! If you want a personal training in Wokingham or Reading he is well worth the travel time to see. The reviews speak volumes of what he can help you achieve you just have to persevere with some of his laughing and dancing around though as he has tendencies of both. Mark
Fantastic experience: I have trained on and off with David for several years, and consistently for the last year and a half. He is really motivational and keeps you going even when you want to give up, often sending a motivational message between sessions (somehow often sensing when you're considering eating something less than healthy). No matter what mood you turn up in, after a few minutes you are smiling - although sometimes it's closer to a grimace! It is a great way to mentally switch off from the stresses of everyday life, knowing you're in safe hands, and going to leave happier, healthier and stronger.
Fantastic experience: My daughter and I share a weekly session with David. He works hard to give us varied fitness routines which we enjoy. The monthly challenges are great and allow us to compete with other clients (even though we don’t know them!). Fantastic experience: David trains my husband and myself, together twice a week. We have lost 70cm between us and 15.5 kilos. I hate exercise, but enjoy DC's sessions and will keep it up. I have a waist for the first time and love feeling stronger and in more control of my body. I am 44 and my accountant said I look like I am in my twenties now! I couldn't have done it without David's encouragement.
Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend Dave more. Was sceptical to begin with as have always struggled to remain commited and not seen any progress. With Daves help in the last 7 months I have gone from a skinny 10 stone to a healthier and more confident 13 stone. Hes also previously helped my wife in training for a triathlon as well. Would recommend for all aspects of training whether you want to lose weight, gain muscle or just to help keep you on track week by week!
Fantastic experience: I first started working with David in the summer, having previously worked with a PT before I thought it would be more of the same, but I was completely wrong, David is so full of knowledge and knows exactly what he’s doing. I have learned to look at nutrition in a new light and can really see such changes in myself and my fitness, working with David is also never dull, he’s so full of life and you can see he does what he loves and enjoys teaching his clients so much. Fantastic experience: I have been training with David for just over 2 months now and I can safely say that he has has successfully pushed me further towards my body goal! My body fat % has reduced from 20.8% to 16.7%, I have lost inches from my waist, bottom belly & hips and I have increased my overall muscle mass, as well as increasing definition in my chest and both of my arms & legs. My endurance and strength have both improved and I can actively see those results by my improved cardio/lifting performance in the gym. I find that David manages to push me to my limit without having a shouty army drill instructor vibe about him, his personality is second to none and his constant positivity makes every work out all the more enjoyable (I’m a very positive person my self but I’d like to have some of whatever Dave taking, haha!). Also, David’s knowledge of nutrition is outstanding, I hold him responsible for finding me the tastiest Vegan protein shake in the entire world! His knowledge has also allowed me to ensure that I’m successfully hitting my macros on a daily basis, giving my body the right nutrition to continue making steps towards my goal. Another thing that makes David stand apart from the rest is that outside of the workouts, Dave is constantly in touch with me through WhatsApp, making sure I’m good and he is always willing to talk to me about anything if I’m not. I’d say Dave is more than just a personal trainer, he operates more like a personal support system, but that’s just how he is and credit where credit is due. I’d recommend David to anyone looking to make improvements to their endurance, strength and overall health / state of mind, the positive atmosphere he creates is effortless and a positive mind = positive results! Fantastic experience: Even though I currently can't walk because of him, working out with David from DC Total Fitness for the last 15 months is always a delight. No matter what mood I am in, or how unmotivated I am when I get there, I always come out feeling great and that's in no small part down to David being slightly mad and always making the gym fun. At first I didn't see the value of a PT, but having someone who has the knowledge and the ability to structure your routines for your body type and end goals is worth every penny. That said David is not like other PTs I have worked with, 'his door is always open' by which I mean he is only a message or phone call away and can be contacted almost 247. However... this works both ways, as he is for ever nagging, I mean encouraging, me to fill in my food diary or up my step game. I guess it all works as I have lost a good amount of weight and am starting to develop definition in places I didn't even know existed. David is more than just my PT he is my therapists too!
Fantastic experience: I have been wanting to change and vary my training plan for a while as my existing one was not working my way. I was given David's name and went a had a chat with him. That was at the beginning of the year. I am now signed up with many many other people to get my fitness back on track. Fantastic experience: I don't know where to start, David is one of the most motivational people I have ever met. He makes the training sessions interesting, fun and different every week and I've never met anyone who likes to dance around as much as David does. I think one of the best factors of training with DC total fitness other than seeing my weight loss is how personal David is. He is a real genuine guy and really puts his all into making you a healthier and happy person in all areas of your life! Fantastic experience: David is as crazy as they come which makes him a brilliant person to train with, with him I have seen continuous results (once I actually decided to do what he told me!) He is always pushing me to do my best and regularly hounded me to make sure I wasn't up to no good. He always mixes it up to keep the sessions fun(?) and engaging and keeps in touch through the week as he is genuinely interested in his clients well-being. Fantastic experience: Soooo, I was lethargic, unmotivated and ‘broken’ - as in so many injuries I couldn’t do anything at the gym. Then I started going to David for training sessions - and what a difference! The injuries are improving all the time, workouts are geared to my level but they’re challenging and fun, and it doesn’t stop there. David sets other challenges, one of which has helped me get to my 10,000+ steps a day, he sends messages of encouragement throughout the week (yes, even when he’s on holiday!) and if, like me, you want to lose weight - trust me when I say ‘DC Total Fitness will be watching you!’ Whether you want a fab and fun workout or a complete lifestyle change, David’s yer man!

Fantastic experience: I don't even know where to begin with this review, I've been training with david on and off for a few years now. He always manages to fit me back in to his busy week and get me motivated again. David makes it so enjoyable and fun with his constant banter and silly voices, He's so encouraging the most positive person I've ever met and totally understanding with everything. I have a lot of allergies, and basically I can only eat fruit, vegetables, chicken and chocolate buttons (a lot of chocolate buttons) so it's been very hard at times to make sure I'm having the correct diet but he's also helped with that. I have so much more knowledge now when it comes to food, exercises and my general health! If anyone is looking for a dedicated, fun loving personal trainer .. david is your guy!
Fantastic experience: I started training with David a few months ago and I would 100% recommend him for everyone I decided I needed to make a change in my life after realising quite how unfit I was, and I was recommended David by one of my friends who knew him as a ‘really nice guy’ I could tell you about how excellent his workouts are, but that’s not what sets him apart from every other personal trainer Where David really excels is at getting the best out of you. Since joining, I’ve never worked so hard and felt so good about it. He listens to everything you tell him and tailors the workout accordingly, he provides good, positive feedback and motivates you to the point that he’s not telling you that you have to do any of this. You want to. Yes, the workouts are excellent and I’ve been able to drop the excess weight and giggle the whole way through, but I also feel better about myself, I’m happier, and I actually look forward to seeing him at the end of a hard day – where I used to just want to go home and pray for the day to be over. I also feel like I can achieve things – not only in exercise – that I just assumed I wouldn’t be able to. If you’re on the fence, just give it a go. Worst case scenario – you don’t enjoy it Best case – it changes your entire outlook on life
