Our comment from NutritionTOP.co.uk about Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness & Wellbeing Gym:
Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness & Wellbeing Gym offers a variety of facilities and a vibrant community atmosphere, making it a popular choice for fitness enthusiasts. Visitors often highlight the friendly and helpful staff who are dedicated to providing exceptional support and creating a welcoming environment.
The gym features an extensive range of equipment, including free weights, cardio machines, and dedicated areas for HIIT and stretching. Additionally, many members appreciate the variety of group classes available, from spinning to aqua aerobics, which cater to different fitness levels and can be led by motivating instructors.
One standout feature is the Run Club, where members have the opportunity to improve their running skills in a supportive setting, with many noting that it's one of the highlights of being a member.
However, some members have expressed concerns regarding overcrowding, particularly during peak hours, which can make it difficult to access equipment and utilize the facilities, including the pool and sauna. There have been reports about maintenance issues with the showers and changing facilities, as well as challenges in booking classes, which can detract from the overall experience.
Overall, while there are areas for improvement, many users find value in the supportive community and range of classes offered at Nuffield Health Wimbledon, making it a solid choice for those looking to maintain an active lifestyle.
Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness & Wellbeing Gym: Reviews
Positive experience: Nice place to go but during the day when there are not so many people around. So busyfirst thing abd after work may not be able to use all the equipment you want
Negative experience: Heard good things about Nuffield health but I would personally avoid this gym at all costs. They are clearly struggling with cash flow as an organisation so ram up the gyms past what seems like fair capacity so you can’t get on any equipment, this also applies to the pool, sauna and steam room. The pool is open to the public and there are kids swimming in there everyday so the joy of having a peaceful swim/sauna session are completely ruined. In addition to this, when you go into the sauna / steam room there are hairs everywhere you step (I’d advise wearing sandals). The same applies to the showers where there is a weird stench coming from them. Once, I also found a tissue in the steam room covered in blood, simply disgusting. The gym equipment is old, worn out, and not many options for a gym which charges over 100 a month. Throughout my time there, the leg press and leg extension was having work done to it constantly so couldn’t be used. If you want to use equipment, relax in peace in the spa area and rest in germ free areas then I would highly suggest to avoid this gym. There are better options out there in the market and Tom Scivier needs to do some research on the word compassion. Thanks.
Negative experience: Waste of 3 years of my life waiting for surgery only to get rejected after waiting 3 years plus the 4 years I had waited previously
Fantastic experience: Fantastic Run club - a unique opportunity to learn how to run longer and faster, stretch yourself to achieve more, meeting great people and charging yourself with positive vibes for the whole week. The best coach Matt , Sarah, Juliette you are an incredible team. ♀️♂️ thank you!
Positive experience: Been a member of run club for over a year and love it!
Fantastic experience: The run club is fantastic! Really enjoyable and a great way to test your fitness level. Matt is brilliant!
Fantastic experience: Great gym, lovely and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Nuffield Wimbledon has got really friendly staff and they are always there to help if you need them too! They are very approachable and they are always very attentive with their members!
Fantastic experience: This review is specifically about Run Club. I joined Run Club when it first began on 15th January 2024. At the time, I had absolutely no experience with running—unless you count my failed attempt at running through an airport to catch a flight, surprisingly I made the flight! In fact, that very experience is what motivated me to sign up. Over a year later, with five medals from 5K runs under my belt, I can confidently say this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The journey has been challenging, but the progress has been incredible! One of the things I love most about these sessions is that they are never boring. There’s always something different—whether it’s interval training, hill sprints, endurance runs, or fartlek. The variety keeps things interesting and makes every session feel fresh. No two weeks are ever the same, and that’s what keeps me coming back! On top of that, the support and encouragement from our coach, Matt, and the rest of the group are second to none. Don’t be put off by the fact that some of the members are seasoned athletes, running marathons and competing in Hyrox events like it’s second nature. In fact, I find this extremely motivating and hoping to take part in these events. Everyone, regardless of experience, is welcomed and motivated to push their own limits. I never would have thought I’d be signing up for a 10K, let alone seriously considering a half marathon in the near future! A massive thank you to Matt for his dedication and encouragement. I highly recommend this run club to absolutely anyone—whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned runner.
Fantastic experience: Top club ! Great facilities and range of classes, Matt’s Run Club is definitely the highlight if you’re interested in peak fitness and meeting new people
Positive experience: Great community and a wonderful running club as well. Thanks Matt and team.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, lovely staff, good value for money considering the area. Competitive prices comparing to other gyms of this calibre. Always nice to have a swim in their pool. Looking forward to come back.
Fantastic experience: Perfect gym for value of money!! Staff are helpful and kind. Big shout to Matt who is “boss” of the running club!
Fantastic experience: Great gym and facilities. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A great range of equipment throughout, with a good sized free weight area, HIIT training zone, cardio area, pin loaded weight machine area, stretching area, studios and of course sauna, steam & Pool facilities.
Fantastic experience: I been using Nuffield health Wimbledon for over 10 years and it’s the best gym for its value for money and the facilities helped me a lot with my progression on my fitness. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Amazing gym with great facilities and staff. 10/10
Fantastic experience: Nice gym with modern equipment and great facilities
Fantastic experience: Great gym, friendly staff and perfect environment to train! Would definitely recommend!!
Fantastic experience: Always my go to when I’m in the area great choice of kit and lovely staff!
Fantastic experience: I recently joined after leaving different local gym and have been very impressed. The variety of equipment is great, the staff are always available to help or answer questions. Thank you :-)
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, always helpful when i need assisstance or has an issue, building needs a little attention but overall nothing to complain about. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Great gym. Good equipment to train. Staff are friendly too
Fantastic experience: Great lication; good bike classes; technogym and mats easily accessible; pool and sauna for wind down.
Negative experience: Frustrated with their classes - VERY difficult to book into, but always no shows. Awful space for classes on the gym floor - why don't they reduce some of the unused treadmills / ellipticals and reshuffle the machines on the top mezzanine for classes and other floor work? Tiny spin studio, impossible to walk through without crashing into bikes. Poor quality bikes (one was so unsteady I was scared it would topple, when I mentioned to the instructor he did nothing to help). After coming from Merton Abbey, I'm leaving Nuffield after 9 years. When I cancelled, the staff member demonstrated the apathetic attitude of this club - a total of 8 abrupt words in 3 emails. Too many other great gyms in the area to choose from, this gym will disappear into their dust.
Negative experience: Unfortunately nuffield health wimbledon has gone downhill rapidly. I've been a member for 25 years and at the moment I can only do aqua due to a back condition. It's literally impossible to get into classes! I book at 7am on the dot 8 days before and the system says wait and then it's full. I am not paying £81 per month for nothing after my loyalty all these years. So bye nuffield wimbledon!
Negative experience: Very difficult to book aquarobics. Even if you are onnthe button at 7.00 a.m. 9/10 times you end up on the waiting list if you are fortunate. Disappointing.
Negative experience: They’ve taken on too many members, and on some evenings, there is literally not a single piece of equipment to use.
Negative experience: Wimbledon doesn't have the capacity to provide value for money for its customers. Since Nuffield decided to close their Merton gym and move its members over to Wimbledon it's got so busy that you can't get on the exercise machines, especially the resistance machines, even during the off-peak times of the day! Wimbledon also has the same problem of unacceptably slow repairs to machines that Merton suffered from. It's apparently the same maintenance company! These delays have much more of a negative impact at Wimbledon because it's so crowded with less space and fewer machines. The leg curl machine has been broken for a month with a farcical "temporarily out of order" sign on it. The gym at Merton had more space, more variety of exercise machines and had two of every type of machine. Wimbledon has a lot less space, less variety of machines and only one of each type of resistance machine. It's crowded and an unpleasant experience. If these issues aren't resolved quickly I'll be taking my money elsewhere. There are numerous better quality gym memberships elsewhere for half the price.
Negative experience: This expensive sports club lacks equipment and visitors have to build such structures, today I spent 15 minutes looking for an employee to disassemble this set and did not find anyone. However, they adhere to the rules for canceling a membership very strictly, even for medical reasons they refused to freeze my membership. Today they also let a homeless person into the club, the man was in very dirty clothes, very unpleasant company for a gym.
Negative experience: Completely echo one of the reviews below who calls out the General Manager as not caring about the members. The gym is horrible - its just dirty, from the pool to the changing rooms, its grim and an embarrassment to Nuffield Gyms. I'm not surprised at the low rating on google - the place needs a revamp desperately, or just closing down completely Virgin gym around the corner has just been redone and so much nicer - try there, or even Fitness Space close by. A lot nicer/cleaner conditions and a lot better staff.
Negative experience: They have very poor customer service. There are much better and/or cheaper gyms in the area. This would be the last gym I would recommend in Wimbledon. You can find better and cheaper options nearby. Definitely avoid this place!
Negative experience: Have been a member for years, but cancelling due to consistent decline. The quality of gym equipment is very poor value for the cost of membership, with a lack of investment over time. Budget gyms have better kit for a third of the price, including cleaner environments and tidy gym floors.
Negative experience: After many years of laziness in finding a better gym, I finally cancelled my membership! Staff not very welcoming. I tried to freeze my membership but I've been ask to pay therefore happy to cancel! Always an issue, the gym is not clean and let's not talk about the swimming pool area! It is a pity you don't value your members. Plenty of emails to get our feedback but nothing has changed.
Fantastic experience: My go to! No complaints. Love the atmosphere, friendly staff, clean gym, machines are the most updated in my area and just a real pleasure to be a member.
Thanks for this superb feedback Sharisse, we are very pleased to read you are enjoying your club visits. Best wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: We at St. Raphael's Hospice are beyond grateful to Nuffield Health Gym Wimbledon for organising an absolutely incredible fundraising event! Led by the amazing Matt Jones, with tremendous support from Juliette and the entire team, they went above and beyond to make this event a huge success. Over the course of the day, they impressively ran 200km on two treadmills, a remarkable feat that rallied fantastic support from the local community. The event was full of heart, with contributions from talented face painters, bakers, and even the local fire service, making it a truly special day for everyone involved. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, they raised an incredible amount of money that will make a meaningful difference to our hospice and the care we provide. It was an absolute joy working with such a dedicated and passionate team, and we are deeply thankful for their efforts. We look forward to future collaborations! With sincere gratitude, Bonita, Julie, & all at St. Raphael’s Hospice
Thank you for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback regarding our team Bonita. Best wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Quite literally the worst gym in Wimbledon. The staff are lovely, but totally mismanaged gym. It's circa 25 degrees inside almost everyday, machines that break take a minimum of 6 weeks to be fixed/replaced, the pool is regularly closed, the gym itself closes very early on Sundays. Honestly, avoid this place it's a junk yard, Every machine seems about 20 years old, the dumbells have even lost all grip. Crazy that it's open and full. Oh and don't bother complaining to management, they do NOTHING. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Hi Hannes, thanks for this feedback and we are sorry for any club visits that have not been satisfactory. Our weekend opening times are similar to other multi-facility sites in the area and whilst we are sorry for any equipment outages, our equipment is a lot newer than what you elude to. We will continue to work with our service agents to improve availability for members. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Average. The gym floor lights will blind you and have you seeing Purple dots. Way too bright. Squat racks are way too close together as well as other equipment. Can barely use the pool as always full of kids. I've asked 5 different members of staff to replace the rubber grips on the bars and other equipment. Just gets ignored and nothing gets done about it. A few more issues as well. Positives are the pts are good and friendly.
Hi Daniel, thanks for your feedback and we are sorry for any club visits that have not been satisfactory. Thank you also for your positive feedback with regards to our gym floor team. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Bad experience with staff
Hi Shannon, thanks for your review and our apologies for any staff interactions that were not to standard. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: I booked a physio appointment with Nuffield. The morning of the appointment day I did a COVID test because I was unwell - it was positive. I called that morning - 8 hours before my appointment and stated this, asking if they could move the appointment to not risk spreading it to the physiotherapist; notwithstanding my feeling unwell. They told me they'd need to charge me for the appointment as it was less than 24 hours notice and proceeded to threaten me with a debt collection agency for non payment. Nice company.
Hi, thanks for this critical feedback. We will share this with our physio operations team. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: it smells like sweat, and it’s HOT, even early morning cause they make “savings” on the air conditioning amd say it s the building aircon they have no control over , but It’s not..cause this is a new thing.
Hi Joline, we can confirm that we maintain the same standard temperature throughout summer. We are sorry of this is non-optimal for your workouts however. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Great gym and nice service, pool and sauna are definitely a big plus
Superb feedback Bartosz. Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely review. Best wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Can never get a space on classes and swim lanes are cramped. Changing rooms are small and people get a bit grumpy with each other because of the lack of space. The equipment is good.
Hiya, thanks for this feedback and we are sorry you have not been able to get onto your preferred classes. Unfortunately, due to the limits of the complex we are in, we are limited in changes we can make to the changing rooms, we are sorry for any instances where these have been busy. Best wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing team
Negative experience: I have been a member for never 6 yrs, through the highs and the lows… I thought after the refurb and the added competition you would up your game! But no! Today I asked who I should talk about cancelling my membership, I was handed a card and told to email someone… thanks after 6yrs… really poor management!
Hi Desmond, thanks for this feedback and we are sorry to read you are leaving. Thank you for your patronage of our centre and we do hope can welcome you back in the future. Best wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing team
Negative experience: Joke of an institution. Paying ridiculous amounts of money per month yet they don’t let people in an hour before it closes. Don’t buy a membership here, unfortunately I am locked in for a month regret buying it.
Hi Susan, thanks for this feedback and we are sorry to read you don't like our last entry rules. These are designed to allow prompt closure of the centre. at closing time. We would like to apologise if this is not compatible with your gym/pool usage plans. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing team
Positive experience: I’ve used this gym for over 10 yrs now. It does the job. I am content with equipment and its state. Also, they did some sort of facelift recently to the changing rooms. However, 2 things that stink, the toilets and the attitude of the staff including the PTs. I hardly interact with them. Yes them. Their (staff)culture in the gym seems to be antisocial. If you’re the type who needs motivation and attention to take urself to the gym, don’t go there. Their attitude will surely throw you off. One exception, a PT named Adam and a lady named Sarah. Everyone else seems to be in the wrong place. Otherwise, it’s alright. Other customers are generally nice and keep to themselves. Some are nicer than others.
Hi Hameed, thank you for your feedback and our apologies for any interactions with the team that have not been to satisfaction. We would also like to apologise for any instances our toilet facilities have not been to standard. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Bad swimming pool management I went to the family swimming session with my little girl. There was an old man teaching his little girl swimming. He took all the public swimming toys, putting them on the kickbroad he hold without using them, acting like a waiter in the pool. The lifeguard walked pass multiple times without saying anything. The lifeguard should have stopped him from occupying the share toys!!
Hi Gu, thank you for this feedback and apologies for the poor experience during a family splash session. If you do witness such behaviours again, please do not hesitate to request the duty manager, who will assist further. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: I have been a member for 2 years and half, this gym was fantastic before when i joined sadly it is not as good as it was before, for the huge monthly fee we pay please guys sort out the toilets in the men changing room and shower they smell and doors need fixing. Sadly I'm leaving the gym due to not able to book classes on your new super high tech class booking system, and no one could help me. Many equipments need servicing. Please sort out this as many of my friends also not happy of what this gym has become and are considering leaving. Cheryl Spinning Class is the best and I will really miss this class she is the best instructor and friend.
Hi Mr A, thank you for this feedback and we are sorry that we are losing your custom due to the issues experienced. We will review the areas highlighted and we hope to welcome you back to the centre in the future. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: Does not have many equipments but pool is good
Hi Michael, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry if the equipment mix is not currently suitable for your planned workouts. We will make sure we consult members ahead of any future changes. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Nuffield Health offers a comprehensive service with knowledgeable staff dedicated to providing exceptional support.
Thanks for this superb feedback Dillon, we are really pleased to read your interactions with our team have been to a high standard. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Hey all, our gym was closed for maintenance, and I have decided to try the one in Wimbledon. Amazing gym with high windows, lots of light. Good equipment, lovely swimming pool, smaller than in Southside, but the water is nice. Staff is welcoming, I don't understand the comments about rude staff. The changing room has an adults only section, which is great, as in our gym we don't have this and during the family swims you are changing with lots of small kids running around. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this superb feedback Polina. We're really pleased to see you enjoyed your visits while your home club was closed. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: I am downgrading my review today 15/3/25, having just returned from this place, refused entry at 2035 as "the gym closes at 2030" - which it doesn't. I challenged the PT who informed me, and he explained that it shuts entry an hour before. Apparently this is policy. What an atrociously managed gym. Firstly, what difference does it make if a gym goer wants to work out for 30min, as long as they leave on time? When I first joined, I received an unsolicited email from a PT to my personal email asking if I'd like PT sessions - this should have been a red flag to me as to how they use my data. I never opted for adverts, nor my data used in this way. They also closed the jacuzzi, without reducing the charges - so technically people were paying the same price for a lesser gym. Then more recently, someone in management forgot to renew the SPA licence from the council so the steam room and sauna were closed for weeks. The level of incompetence of management is unparalleled. I've been working out for 21 years, used most of the mainstream gyms around and NONE were as badly run as this place. Staff are generally very rude (few exceptions). Once my wife didn't know about the kids swimming restriction on a Friday and she was very aggressively harassed to leave the pool area with my toddler son. She came home crying, explaining two men had aggressively made her leave (imagine being treated like that if you're a woman in a bathing suit, how vulnerable you'd feel). They could have told her politely. There is no oversight in the weight area, where some adolescents will spend 30-40 minutes on a single piece of equipment e.g. benchpress (which they only have one of). There is an aerobics instructor that plays thumping music so loud in a reverberating pools its disconcerting and impossible to be in the sauna/stream room or spare lane during it. Wimbledon is a competitive gym space with plenty of options - don't bother with this place if you value your personal data, time and mental health.
Hi Kevin, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you havent enjoyed your club visits. We would also like to apologise for any interactions with our team that have caused offence. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Like someone else already said, I don't understand all the bad reviews. I joined 3 months ago, and while I can't comment on the swimming pool because I don't use it, the facility seems alright to me. I also disagree with those who said that the staff is rude. Everybody is smiley and polite with me, and I noticed the same behaviour with other members too. There are better gyms in Wimbledon, but they're also more expensive. Just like there are cheaper gyms but they offer less than this one. I think it's good value for money.
Thank you very much for this lovely feedback and top notch rating for our club. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Poor gym, with run down facilities. Always dirty, poor selection of equipment and rude staff. 100% DO NOT join. If you're looking for a "Luxury" gym I'd suggest looking at Third Space or Virgin. And for a cheaper alternative check out "The Gym Group". Only join Nuffield Wimbledon if you want to waste your money...
Hi Daniel, thank you for this feedback and we are sorry for any club visits that triggered your review. We believe our centre continues to offer good value for money, in comparison to the alternatives you have named. And any prospective member is more than welcome to tour our centre to see this for themselves. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Saunas and steam room never working £90 a month
Hi Gary, thanks for this feedback and apologies for any instances where either the steam or sauna have been unavailable to use. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Fab PT trainers. Definitely recommend Matt Wilkinson.
Superb feedback, thank you for sharing. We're very pleased to read of the excellent training Matt has been providing during your sessions. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: I don't really understand the negative feedbacks I am reading recently. The staff here is always very nice: from the cleaners to the receptionists, from the PTs to the instructors etc I have never felt comfortable using the gym floor but here I feel at home and at ease when I do. The equipment is well maintained and you can tell they are making an effort to refresh the whole environment (changing rooms etc) The timetable has a good offer and there are many classes I do enjoy with very supportive and knowledgeable instructors. Overall is a great place to workout and a very nice community. If I can be honest, I would like members be more well-mannered..I mean do the management really have to tell you to drop the dirty towel in the right place, don't leave rubbish and nappies around? We all should make an effort to keep it clean, tidy and functional.
Thank you so much for your warm word Nicoletta. We are very pleased to see you are happy with your club membership. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Wandsworth is my home gym but had to use Wimbledon branch. Weights are all in different places the benches are directly under blinding lights if you on your back. Badly positioned equipment. Just a bad lay out in general. Whoever decided where to put stuff clearly doesn’t work out. Rubbish gym.
Hi Sammy, thank you for this critical feedback and we are sorry if the current layout has meant your workouts have been non-optimal. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the community feel here. It’s clear that over the last few months they are actively trying to improve and refurb the space - and improvements take time which I don’t think a lot of people seem to realise. The PTs are lovely, approachable and I’ve really improved in my strength and abilities since I started with a PT earlier on this year. It’s sad to see negative reviews because I think a lot of us feel like it’s a great gym, and yes there are always things to improve and can’t always be perfect but they are showing the effort. I’ve made some friends for life at this gym that has shown me that working out and leading a healthier lifestyle doesn’t need to be a chore.
Thank you for this lovely feedback Lucy. We are very pleased to read of the excellent service our gym floor team has been providing during your club visits. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Thinking of signing up to this gym? Just don't. Read the negative reviews. The positive ones are for class trainers, not the gym.
Hi Jeremy , thank you for your review and we are sorry if any of your club visits have not been to standard. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: This is a very overpriced, poor gym. I have had a lot of bad experience at this gym. They closed the hot tub last year and then instead of reducing the membership fees, decided to increase it instead. Nick Bevan who is the general manager only cares about maximizing revenue without giving concern to their members. He doesn't have a clue in how to run a gym or even any business on a long term basis. The Sauna and steam room has constant problems and it is closed most of the times. The swimming pool is extremely dirty, you will get infections if you use it. I strongly advise not to join this disgraceful gym and join Virgin Active in Wimbledon instead, they are much better and there facilities are open majority of the time unlike Nuffield Wimbledon. Another issue is that if you join this gym even on a monthly basis, getting out of the contract is very difficult as they will charge you an extra months membership, there reason for this is that "it is on our T&Cs". Please avoid this gym at all cost.
Hi Sreeju, thank you for your review and we are sorry if we have lost your patronage due to any operational issues in-club. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Lorraine Dean Grundy hands down, best trainer. She brings energy, and challenge to every one of her classes. There are no repeats. She makes every session tougher than the last one. Every muscle group gets involved. You don’t need machines, reformer Pilates etc. if you have Lorraine.
Fantastic experience: Just done an aqua class- outstanding
Lovely feedback Lucy. We are really pleased to read you have enjoyed the Aqua Aerobics sessions at our club. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: I love coming to this Nuffield health for its range of classes and fantastic fitness instructors; to name a few Celia, Lucy, Giacomo and Lorraine. If it weren’t for their energy and enthusiasm I wouldn’t enjoy going to the gym as much as I do. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. It’s also going through some refurbishments which is giving the gym the facelift it needs. Highly recommend joining this gym if you are a gym class goer like me!
Thanks for taking the time to call-out our team for the excellent service they are providing Bethany. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: My wife and I joined Nuffield Health Wimbledon this summer and we are very pleased. It has everything we would want: weights and cardio equipment, spa, pool, stretching, and classes (Strength & Conditioning, Yoga, Skill 30 (HIIT), Spinning, BodyPump) led by fun and motivating instructors. Most important is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the clear dedication of the staff - they really go the "extra mile" for the members.
Thank you so much for this lovely feedback Sri. We are so pleased to read the excellent workout sessions both you and your wife have had in our group exercise classes. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Tara is a very professional and motivated PT, I wish everyone could be like her! I had one to one session with her and have been attending different morning classes with her and she is friendly and very helpful. If you have a goal to achieve such as weight loss or stress relief or body building, she is always ready for a new challenge and you will be in right hand and she has been greeting me with a massive smile which made the difference and me feel so welcome and ready to start my work out with a positive vibe! Great asset to every team! Thank you Tara
Negative experience: Becoming unbearable. They moved the bikes into the quiet stretch area and now the mats are surrounded by the drone of the rowing machines and the 85db classes because they LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN.
Hi, thanks for your feedback and we are sorry for the impact noise created by group exercise sessions have had on your workout sessions. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: A great gym, I have been coming here for a couple of years. Good up to date gym equipment, friendly atmosphere, excellent facilities, swimming pool, sauna, steam room etc. The personal trainers are very helpful and motivated. Highlrecommended
Thanks for this superb feedback Patricia. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: I've been going to Nuffield for over 3 years and have loved it. I've used all of the gym facilities. The classes are amazing , such a vibe; you must try Spinning and Combat. The music is excellent, and the energy is just another level. I'm entirely addicted to it. I have my favourite PTs, Matt Wilkinson, Adam Murray, and Michael - they rock. The community is lovely; I have made some friends for life there.
Thanks for taking the time to provide this superb feedback of our group exercise classes and PT team Gabi. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: Nuffield Health gym in Wimbledon is a great place to workout. If you are looking for classes this is the place to be. There are plenty of Les Mills classes including Bodycombat, Bodyattack, Bodypump, Grit, among others, and you also have an amazing team of cycling instructors. The atmosphere is friendly and the vibe during the classes is electric! You really feel part of a community where working out is not only about sweating but also about having fun! I recommend it 100%!
Thanks for this superb feedback Ana. We are very pleased to see our group exercise timetable has delivered some excellent in-club experiences, Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: The shower facilities are falling apart / mouldy / in need of refurb , the swimming pool is disgusting at times and constantly being closed , the steam room is constantly out of use too . The changing rooms are in dire need of an upgrade. Not worth the price. Not a fan of when I cancelled my month by month membership and direct debit they said they may send me to a debt collector if I don't pay an extra month. They didn't but don't appreciate the scare mongering. AVOID.
Hi Hamish, thank you for this feedback and we are sorry for any club visits that were not to the standards we expect for our members. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: The staff were really eager to get you to join but once joined I was a bit disappointed as all the classes were fully booked. I went for the health assessment and was told to fast for a cholesterol test but when I arrived I was told they were out of stock of the tests. The results were supposed to be emailed straight away but no email received as yet. You can pay extra and they will tell you what to eat. It just seems like they just want more money for everything. I tried to call to ask about a personal trainer and I held on for 6 mins listening to music and then it just went dead. I really feel like cancelling before I’ve even used the gym.
Hi Beverley, thank you for your review and we are sorry to read that the club didn't met your health and wellbeing needs. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: AbsoIutely shocking. Overpriced and overpacked gym with medicre equipment and rude staffs. I would have thought Nuffield is a high end gym with at least a decent customer service. Seems like I am paying a premium membership to be yelled at by staffs and yelling the gym is closed despite there were still 15 minutes per the official closing time. Not to mention the lack of showers in the changing room with long ques and the state of the toilet is always very dirty with urine on the floor. More confusingly they will switch the changing room around to the opposite sex as they like to cause further confusion. Would not recommend anyone joining here.
Hi, thanks for this feedback and apologies for any instances where your club visits have not been to standard. We hope you have seen an improvement in service standards since this review has been uploaded. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Cancelled within a month. Way too busy and unclean. Spoke to the supervisor on the desk and his view the Virgin closed in Wimbledon, we didn't have much choice so take it or leave it. So I left it. Not worth the money if it's worse than the PureGym down the road for half the price.
Hi Alfie, thank you for this feedback and we are sorry if our centre was in any way unsuitable for you. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: Yes great but toilets need a more regular cleaning a d freshening up
Thanks for positive review Dilip and apologies for any instances when the cleaning standards have not been to the level we expect for our members. Best wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Honestly, been a member for a month now and I’m rather ashamed to be a member here. For starters, there is no time when the gym is actually quiet. I work from home and have been probing throughout the day to see when I’d be able to do an efficient workout, not happening. They’ve clearly oversold memberships and crammed as many people in as possible. Secondly, the pool is either overran with children, people who don’t obey the lane directions or closed. Thirdly, gear is more suitable for retirees (which I’m starting to get is 90% of Wimbledon) and not really much around for real lifters. Not enough plates, not enough squat racks, not enough benches, not enough space in lifting area and for some reason, only half the bars have clips, which is a health and safety incident in the making when someone tries to do a overhead press without clips. Fourthly, classes need some work, or more importantly, staff need to show some enthusiasm. Been to one class so far, instructor clearly didn’t want to be there. Zero energy in the class. Finally, poor opening times, which are simple not convenient with the demands of a professional career. Overall, looking forward to when the anytime fitness opens round the corner or when the overpriced virgin reopens. As for now, my advice is to check out the “Better group” gym round the corner.
Hi Levi, thank you for your review and we are sorry that our centre did not meet your health and wellbeing needs. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: It has most things required to undertake a decent gym session, so no complaints there, however, due to being located in Wimbledon, it's in Nuffield's Tier 1 band, despite being no better than Colliers Wood, which is only a few minutes away and much cheaper, so if living equidistant, you'd be better off joining that one instead.
Fantastic experience: Yesterday I tried Nuffield Health Wimbledon for the first time. I was impressed with the layout and machines. Staff were friendly. I will definitely return for another workout
Lovely feedback, thank you for sharing your experience of our centre. Best Wishes, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: There were numerous issues that left me extremely dissatisfied with the facility. Allow me to elaborate on the key points that highlight the negative aspects of this establishment. Firstly, the broken lighting in the steam room was unpleasant and also a major safety concern. It was evident that the management was well aware of this issue since they had resorted to a lazy and irresponsible approach. Rather than addressing the problem and ensuring the safety of their members, they simply placed a note on the door window stating that the alarm is not a light switch. This clearly indicates their unwillingness to invest in proper maintenance and repair work. It not only compromises the safety of individuals using the steam room but also raises questions about their commitment to cleanliness, as I suspect the lack of lighting has allowed them to skimp on thorough cleaning. Another disappointment was the closure of the spa pool, with staff members boldly claiming that it would "never return" due to energy costs. It is baffling to see that other Nuffield facilities within the same price bracket have managed to reopen their spa pools, while the members of this Wimbledon gym are left paying a significant amount of money without access to such amenities. This unequal treatment of members is both unfair and unjustifiable. If other gyms can accommodate spa pools, why can't this particular branch, especially when members are paying comparable fees? Moving on to the changing rooms, a lot of the showers were out of order and the remaining ones had an inadequate number of curtains. This may seem like a minor issue, but it reflects poorly on the management's attention to detail and their commitment to providing a comfortable experience for their members. Having only two curtains in a busy gym is simply unacceptable. It shows a lack of consideration for privacy and convenience, leaving individuals to deal with unnecessary inconveniences and potential discomfort. Lastly, during peak hours, I was astounded to witness children "playing" on the gym equipment, occupying machines that paying members were waiting to use. What was even more disheartening was the lack of action taken by the staff. Despite witnessing this disruption, they walked past without addressing the issue. This neglectful attitude towards enforcing proper gym etiquette and ensuring that members have a pleasant workout experience is deeply disappointing. Considering these multiple negative aspects of Nuffield Fitness Wimbledon gym and spa, I won't be visiting this gym again would strongly advise potential members to reconsider their options. The lack of lighting in the steam room, closure of the spa pool and insufficient maintenance of the showers are all clear indications of a poorly managed facility. Save your money and look elsewhere for a gym that truly values the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of its members.
Hi Dave, thank you for your review and our apologies for any club visits that were not to standard. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: They all are there to make money. I was told incorrect information at the time of joining the membership and the manager completely ignored the facts of being lied to. Instead I keep emailing them cancelling and it all gets ignored. Even an acknowledgment was hard to get. The services are not fully running on any of nuffield gyms. What am I a member for?
Hi Jasleen, thank you for your review and our apologies for any delays with the administration of your club membership. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Poor customer service, they just don’t care about loyal members, I gave my notice today as I am not happy how my issue was addressed.
Hi Georgina, thank you for this feedback and we are sorry we have lost your custom due to the quality of interactions or actions not taken following feedback provided. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: I'm a current member of Nuffield in Wimbledon, and whilst I like the facilities, they've recently given my details to a debt collection company who are bombarding me with emails and calls despite me not owing an outstanding balance. I've had to plead with the debt company to speak to Nuffield directly.
Hi John, thank you for this feedback and we are sorry if there were any errors in the administration of your membership account. With regards, the Nuffield Health Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Fantastic experience: New member and really enjoying the gym so far! Took a few Skill30 classes with one of the PTs, Medi - best workouts I've had in a very long time!!! These can be easily booked via the app, which is great. The staff and PTs are friendly, the place is always clean and never found it to be too crowded. Great experience so far!
Hiya Albright, thank you for the excellent review and ratings, we're really pleased to read your enjoying your membership. Best wishes, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Joined to do spin classes. Acoustics of studio are incredibly loud , spin instructors do not turn down the music, resulting in level of music which are not healthy for the ears. Wore ear defenders to a class. I complained and nothing changed, management is poor. Do not join and if you join and attend spin classes, be careful about harmful noise levels.
Hi Irina, sorry to read you were unhappy with our group exercise classes. This feedback has been shared with the fitness team and we hope we can welcome you back to the club again in the future. With regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: Closing the jacuzzi to conserve energy. What is the point of paying for a gym membership if I can’t use all of the facilities?!
Hi J, apologies for the impact this decision had on your visits. The spa pools have now been permanently closed to manage our energy usage. Unfortunately, due to any savings being used to manage our operational costs, we are not in the position to offer a discount in fees. We are however very sorry for any impact this has had on your club visits. With regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Centre
Negative experience: Dont join
Hi "Squid", sorry to read you were dissatisfied with any aspect of your membership. We hope we can welcome you back to the club in the future, despite this negative review. With regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: It’s ridiculously expensive for a bang average gym. The equipment is fine but it’s quite a small gym so not loads of options. I think they’re getting away with the price because the competition in the area is also pretty poor. The changing rooms constantly smell, the showers are awful and only have a curtain on 2 of them. I’ve never used the pool but it seems quite small, potentially good for children but no adult will get much use out of it. I would move to a new gym straight away but the only other real option is a Virgin active which is just as small and expensive. The whole place needs a remodel. Would also be good if they had membership options that didn’t include the pool as I imagine this is the reason for such a high cost.
Hi Tom thanks for this feedback and apologies for any aspect of your visits that were not up to the standards we expect for our members. Membership is inclusive of all facilities; however we have noted your feedback regarding tiered banding and have shared this with our membership team. Please do not hesitate to request a duty manager, if you have any specific concerns you would like to highlight. With regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing team
Fantastic experience: Really nice gym and friendly staff
Positive experience: amazing
Dear Joe, thank you for the positive feedback and review. Best regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: Clean and spacious gym. Lovely staff. Only downside is that there is no parking in the facilities.
Lovely feedback Juliana , we appreciate you taking the time to provide this positive review of our club. Best regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: I give 5 stars to the gym instructors here. Professional and friendly, great group classes. The management is A DISGRACE. They dishonour all the good work the gym couches do and are undertrained and sometimes even rude to the costumers. If you want to complain don't use the cards they provide, I don't think anybody reads them. Never received an answer from the office. That's why I'm posting here. But I don't think they are interested about what the costumers think.
Dear Ianina, thank you for this feedback and our apologies for any aspect of your visits that you are dissatisfied with. If you have any outstanding concerns, please do not hesitate to raise these to the Customer Relations team via: [email protected] and we'll make sure these are investigated further. Best regards, Ben, Nuffield Health
Positive experience: Staff are generally friendly and the facilities are good (getting a towel at the entrance is a nice touch). The only issue is that you sometimes feel rushed to leave the gym well ahead of time; it's bad enough that the gym isn't open very late and the floor/pool closes 30 mins before the actual closing time.
Hi Frank, thanks for this feedback. With regards to opening times, we do have to vacate the site promptly, however this should always be done in a courteous manner. Apologies if you have felt rushed on any occasion. Best wishes, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Negative experience: just spoke to this branch very rude customer service team member
Hi Prince, apologies for any customer service interaction that fell below the high standards we expect from our team. We do hope we can welcome you back to the club again in the future. Best regards, the Wimbledon Fitness and Wellbeing Team
Positive experience: This is an updated review. In my last review I complained about the gym being messy and the re being no privacy in the changing room showers. However these issues are all resolved now. The gym is a lot more organized now because of the active working staff. And the showers now have 2 good curtains. I'm really impressed with there quick response to this problem. Many thanks
Negative experience: I have been there just to use the SPA area, and I am not a member, but they have stopped me, because you can only enter the gym if you are a member and not pay as you go. Basically if you are asymptomatic but positive, you can go inside and spread happily to another member, however, if you are negative and not a member, they won't allow you. If you think that only gov deploy random rules, go at the Nuffield Health, the will do it better. Never again
Positive experience: Great facilities to use fun and relaxing environment if you don’t mind the price
Negative experience: Worst gym experience of my life. Came for a trial, thank God I tried it before signing up. First of all, I arrive two hours before closing to be told that they're winding up for the day. Okay, I think, but I can take a quick swim. I go for a swim - pool is small and not super clean. Afterwards I pop into the even less clean steam room. Not great but not terrible so far. After the steam room, I go to grab my towel, which has my locker key rolled up in it - the towel has vanished. There are no staff to be found, so I have to traipse through the gym, dripping wet, in a swimming costume. I find a woman at the desk and ask her for help. She asks me which locker was mine, and I say I'm not sure, but it's one of three immediately next to each other. She says that it's impossible that I don't know, as lockers are assigned and recorded on the computer. I point out that they can't be recorded on the computer - you choose your locker *after* you sign in. She argues with me for five minutes. She then grabs one key and takes me back to the changing room - sod's law, it's the wrong locker. Things go downhill very quickly from here: instead of leaving me in the changing room to grab the other two keys, she drags me back *through the gym* full of people working out (still wet, now freezing) and grabs one other key. We repeat, again it doesn't work. At this point, she takes me back to the front desk, throws a tantrum, and then *leaves me there* to go and find another member of staff. I stand there, freezing cold, for ten full minutes. Finally a manager comes out, grabs the third key and lets me into my locker. Obviously, I am never returning to this gym, but I hope someone reads this and avoids a similar fate!
Positive experience: Decided to change, from Virgin active. Good gym with good equipment. Just two things: when I signed up they told me they would have resumed free towel as soon as covid restrictions lifted (in England there are no restrictions at the moment but no free towels). Second would be nice ti to see at least one trainer in the gym floor if you need any help like a quick spot. Otherwise highly recommended as gym. Thanks
Negative experience: This is a very mismanaged gym. Overcrowded and unclean toilets. Management is very aggressive in signing new members, but good luck if you want to leave, even after your contract period has ended. From my experience, they will want to take 2-3 months of extra payment from you, even if you call and email them to serve notice. I called to give notice to terminate my membership in early May. I was given an email address on which to serve the notice (wonder why they couldn't take the request on phone). Anyways, I sent an email and assumed my membership would be cancelled. But no, they continue to take money 2 months after serving the notice. I called again. They said because I didn't receive an acknowledgement, I need to continue to pay as per their T&C (even though it is their failing that they didn't read an email I sent). And I was promised they will get back, but no they didn't. What an inept management. Clearly they are trying to frustrate me (knowing people are busy) so that they could continue taking payment even though I haven't used the gym at all since I served the notice.
Negative experience: Rude staff I was not allowed to discover the gym with one day trail pass, before signing up.
Positive experience: Great classes offered at the gym. Toilets in the female changing rooms can be busy as there is not enough of them. Spa area often out of order.
