Fantastic experience: Was booked in at the last minute with the salon owner..all my own disorganised self! Was met by charming reception staff who made me feel welcome. Carla, the salon owner I believe listenened and was engaged with what I wanted and produced the best haircut I have had to date.. If only it could make me look 10 year's younger I'd be back tomorrow! Throughly recommend..I believe they have another Salon in Newington Green as well.

Negative experience: Awful experience with beautician SYLWIA. Unpleasant. Rude. Was more concerned about the wrong things rather than what I was there for. Reminded me that it was a free consultation multiple times. Told me and my child to sit on a small bench that looked like a foot stall. We obviously couldn't both fit. So I stood the whole time as she had changed her mind about me being able to sit on the actual salon chair. I asked her about one of the products she had pointed out (out of 2) and she acted like she didn't even know what I was talking about even though I referred to th product by it's name. Not sure she's been legitimately trained? could barely understand her. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had. Then got told at reception that she's been through a lot after I expressed th above. That's definitely not an excuse. If you go here definitely book with someone else or you will be wasting your money. Or to be safe just go elsewhere. Will also be taking this up with management once I get the time. Avoid!!

Fantastic experience: In the past few years I had few health issues, 2 autoimmune diseases, problems with digestion, early menopause. I finally found, Fabiana Matos, she is a nutritionist specialized in hormone imbalances, she followed me for 3 months, helped me to understand a lot better how to eat and how to listen to my body! Despite the fact I don’t live in UK, I never felt alone! I’m really grateful to have done this program with Fabiana as I was able to achieve what I wanted, I lost a bit of weight and I felt less tired and my stomach is not in pain anymore! I highly recommend Fabiana for whoever is struggling with stomach issues and hormone imbalances!!! She is also a really nice person, she understood 100% my needs, my good and bad! She is THE one!!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to shine for years I think that the service is good and more importantly as a beauty salon hygiene standards are excellent, for me at shine the prices reflect the level of and the hygienic environment.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend the CACI facial with Hayley. It is the only facial I've ever had (and I've had many) that really made an immediate difference to my skin. It lifts and firms and the results last quite a long time. Hayley is a brilliant therapist so you won't be disappointed

Fantastic experience: I honestly didn’t know a hairdresser could make you feel so good and so relaxed! I feel like I’ve had a weekend break or something. I’ve been afraid of hairdressers after some BAD experiences and I normally cut and dye my own hair as a result. I hadn’t been in a hairdresser for more than 6 years and I’d really had a dream of a lovely Balayage. I went in to see Cinnamen for a consultancy and allergen test and then I came back for the best hair experience of my life. She achieved what we were looking for with the photos etc I showed her. I honestly felt like a queen for a day and I love he results. 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend Cinnamen and the saloon

Fantastic experience: Had my hair coloured by Jennifer and she did an amazing job! She corrected colour that another nearby salon had done badly, and toned it down, adding lowlights and balayage - I now have the perfect shade of blonde that won’t grow out too obviously. Can’t wait to go back!

Negative experience: Awful experience at Shine. Worst cut and colour, I have ever had and the staff lack personal skills, they are rude, un-interested, very unprofessional and undertrained. Avoid!

Fantastic experience: I got my hair cut by Joanna. This was the best haircut I’ve had in a long time! Joanna was really friendly and did a great job cutting and styling my hair. I love it, and it’s exactly what I wanted. Recommend Joanna highly!

Fantastic experience: I approached Sarah Warman for help with my chronic sciatic pain. Sarah has given me a whole new level of awareness of my body and movement including unhelpful habits all of which feed into my physical as well as mental wellbeing. I always feel so happy, positive and lifted after our sessions.

Fantastic experience: I had a number of cranial sacral therapy sessions with Mattea Di Gaetano & I can't recommend her enough. She was warm, thoughtful & her treatment had powerful benefits. I also took my 7 year old son for a treatment to help with his ulceritive colitis & he found it hugely beneficial & relaxing. We are most definitely going to come back for more in the future!

Fantastic experience: I had injured my back and was having difficulty walking and at times I couldn't walk at all. I engaged with a chronic pain service and had 6 steroid injections into my back to see if this would relieve the pain and unfortunately, it didn't work. A friend recommended Danila who specialises in myofascial release, she was able to release my lower back area which had been stuck for over a year. Even though I do still have some pain I am able to walk normally again, she also released a trapped nerve which I've had for over 20 years and helped with a nerve problem. Danila is really amazing I'm truly grateful for everything she's done for me.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend the wonderful women at Shine enough. I've been going to Francesa for beauty treatments for a while and she immediately made me feel in safe hands and has recommended products that have achieved the desired outcome. The team seem to be very knowledgeable on different areas and products on the market and have addressed any concerns thoughtfully. Thank you :)

Fantastic experience: I had the eyelashes lamination in the Shine holistic with Francesca , she been so kind and professional. The center is very clean and follow all the Covid rules. My eyelashes look amazing and really I’m happy with the treatment .

Fantastic experience: I've been having acupuncture with Marian at Shine for over a year now. Couldn't recommend her treatments highly enough. Have had great results and her style is very gentle which if you're not a fan of needles is a bonus!

Fantastic experience: Can’t recommend this place highly enough. I had a disaster hair colour elsewhere with multiple shades of blonde and really bad yellowing at the roots. I went to see Jennifer for a colour correction and she saved the day! She did an amazing job and was so thorough and careful. Left the salon with a perfect, creamy blonde and so happy with the result. All the staff I encountered were friendly and professional. Will definitely be back.

Negative experience: Covid fee of £5 you are forcing customers to pay after a pandemic? despite they are coming in and paying for the service and supporting you.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional hygiene procedures in line with the highest expectations, in the time of Covid. Relaxed environment and excellent stylists. A byword for hairdressing in Stokey. It certainly does shine!

Fantastic experience: From the moment I contacted Shine for a haircut, to the moment I left, I felt very comfortable. They're taking great precautions against COVID, and I have no quibble with the extra fee to account for these costs. This was my first time visiting them, and Carla did a fantastic job cutting and styling my hair. I'm delighted to find such a good local salon.

Fantastic experience: I visited Shine on Church Street today for first my haircut and colour since lockdown. I've been shielding for months and so was extremely pleased to see all the measures they've taken to keep everyone safe. Best haircut I've had in ages, lovely service and super safe - you're even asked to swap your mask for one of their disposable ones at the door, and remove your coat so that you're minimising anything from the outside coming in to the salon. Full PPE worn by all salon staff and only 2 customers in each room so easy to keep a 2metre distance. Thanks so much to Carla and the whole team for a really great experience today, you have this customer for life now!

Fantastic experience: Came in for a men's cut. Salon has sensible safety measures, all employees wear PPE, it is clean and reasonable space between clients. They asked me to wear a brand new face mask despite me already wearing one. It made me feel quite comfortable. Was very happy with my haircut and planning to return for my next cut.

Fantastic experience: Visted Shine today for the first time today, having specifically been recommended Joheim. I briefly came in for a patch test last week and didn't have the best experience with the person who did that, so was slighlty hesistent about today, but not even exaggerating, that was by far the best hairdressing experience of my life!! I've found the hairdresser who I am gonna stick with. Not only did he make me feel incredibly welcome and comfortable, he explained everything so clearly, knew exactly how to work my hair type and did an amazing job with my unruly curls. Such a nice person. I've never left a hairdressers feeling that positive before. The salon itself is also really lovely and relaxing. All the staff seemed very friendly. I will100% be a returning customer and will be recommending Joheim to all my friends who are having a curl struggle...the struggle is real!

Fantastic experience: Joanna is simply amazing, she has just cut and coloured my daughter Ella’s hair and it looks stunning. Joanna is such a modest, sweet person who wears her talent lightly, but she is exceptional.

Fantastic experience: Honestly one of the best waxing treatments I have received in london. My beautician was Sylvia (sorry if I’m spelling the name wrong!). She was discreet, kind, efficient and knowledgeable. I have a very low pain tolerance and have been waxing for a decade now, this was one of the few almost pain-free treatments I have received. The studio is airy and comfortable, also very good air conditioning system which keeps you cool all the time. Anyone who’s been waxed in 30 degrees heat knows how unpleasant that can be. Will be back.

Negative experience: I never complained about a hairdresser but I am so disappointed in the service at Shine (Newington Green) as the stylist did the exact opposite of what I asked for that I have to write a public review. I still cannot understand how this can happen...The colouring is great and I am happy with the outcome but the styling is way off. My request was basic, to cut as much from my shoulder-length wavy hair so that I can still put it up comfortably in a ponytail with some subtle layers in the back. The cut is drastic with 15 cm cut from the top in the back no gradual transition and a lot was chopped off on the sides as well so of course I cannot tie it up. It's like a Vidal Sassoon long bob gone off....When I called to express my disappointment, I was told the manager will call me but I never heard back. It will take at least 4 months before I can recognise myself in the mirror.

Fantastic experience: Shine has always been my go-to place for all my beauty needs in lovely Stoke Newington. From facials to getting my hair (thank you for saving me Sandro!) and makeup done for my wedding day, I highly recommend Shine <3

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Shine for my hair colour now for over a year and still have the same lovely person doing my colour. The salon is a nice place to visit, the interiors are stylish and the staff very good. I have been happy going to this salon, I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: I had my eyebrows micro bladed by Francie and I absolutely love them! Francie is lovely and explains the process and aftercare really well, she also always made sure I was comfortable. The shape and colour is more natural and much nicer than what I had been doing myself. I have had a lot of compliments and I am super happy to have such natural looking eyebrows all the time! Fantastic experience: I have seen Linda for massage on and off for a couple of years at both the Church Street and Newington Green locations and the difference she is able to make in a single session is astounding. I suffered with chronic pain for many years so i've had a lot of massage and I can hands down say Linda is the most gifted and experienced massage therapist I have ever come across. Not only does she successfully treat whatever pain or tension I go to see her for, she will very often eliminate tension and imbalances I didn't even know I had. I always leave feeling 10x lighter.

Negative experience: I had a fantastic massage with hot stones from the lovely Georgie. Sadly this was quickly diminished by the request for more money as I was leaving. When I booked over the phone I was told the Holistic Massage was £60, the hot stones would be an additional £5. I agreed to this fee and paid it before I received the massage. Then as I was leaving the woman at the desk asked for more money. This felt yuck! I checked with Trading Standards, and under the Consumer Goods Act they can offer the item at the correct price or refuse your money and withdraw the product from sale, but this is only BEFORE I've paid and received the goods. If the customer pays for an item at the reduced cost, the purchase is considered a legally binding contract between the retailer and the customer. The shop has no legal right to claw back any money if it later realises there has been an error. Shine had no legal right to ask for more money and have committed a crime.

Fantastic experience: Everything I look for in a hair salon: they are timely when you arrive, very good customer service (drinks offered, lovely garden in back, friendly), high quality of haircuts and styling (Everton is my go-to, but I’ve seen other stylists’ clients walking out looking great), conscience about quality of colouring hair products, and prices are very sensible for a London salon. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Have been having facials here for years and they're always a pleasure especially with Sylvia who really takes the time to use the right products for my skin type. My skin is always glowing for days after. Edit: yes feel free to add to her part of the website x

Fantastic experience: I first came to see Cinnamen several months after I'd lightened my hair from bottle black after years of heat and dyeing. It looked a total state and I needed professional advice of how to get what was now orangey brown damaged hair closer to a beautiful colour and better condition (with a long term goal of going blonde). She worked her magic and I walked out with a gorgeous ash brown tone and silky smooth hair! I'd never felt better and it was a perfect "reset" at a half way point on my way to my goal. Then, just over a week ago I went back to Cinnamen after months of laying off the heat and using her recommended products to help repair my hair. I was a bridesmaid the following weekend and needed to know what we could do to get my colour and condition closer to my goal. Once again, she worked her magic by painstakingly and carefully lightening my hair with a full head of highlights followed by toner and it's now a multi-tonal blonde and looking amazing! The salon is wonderful - you feel like you are in very professional, capable hands; the staff are unpretentious and genuine, the assistants are attentive and polite and you are very well looked after by everyone. Most of all they listen to your needs, give wise hair care advice and are really good at what they do. Excellent salon and will be back again.

Fantastic experience: First came to Johiem here many months ago, and never going anywhere else. He has taken me from my natural hair (brunette) to blonde without any bleach, making sure not to damage my curls. He really has a vision for what would look perfect, and works with you to get exactly what you want. I am forever getting compliments. So thank you so much, and see you again soon

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for cuts and highlights for 10 years. Carla usually does my hair but Cinnamen and Kate have also done it. I always love having my hair done here. The staff are lovely, very warm and welcoming. Recently I changed my colour and Cinnamen was really helpful at finding me new colours to try. I recommend this salon. It's not cheap but then quality never is and when your hair looks good you feel great!

Fantastic experience: I came here to have a brown/blonde dye on my previously home-dyed red hair. Johiem took complete care of me and performed a miracle hair transformation - I'm so pleased! Fantastic experience: I've been coming to Shine every few months for the past year now, and thanks to stylist Joheim always leave with a great cut and in a good mood. Despite moving home to further away from the salon, I still come back every time I need a trim, and will continue doing so.

Negative experience: Very bad customer service here. The lady who did my hair was very rude and made sure to tell me I didn't explain what I wanted properly. Will not be coming here again. Too much attitude.

Negative experience: MY PARTNER HAS BEEN HERE A FEW TIMES AND ALWAYS COMPLAINS ABOUT THE BEAUTY TREATMENTS WHEN SHE COMES BACK. SHODDY, AND THERE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE STAFF. I AM NOT SURE IF THESE THERAPISTS ARE ACTUALLY TRAINED. I WOULD OF EXPECTED THAT THEY HOLD RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PRICES THAT THEY CHARGE. BUT IT WOULD SEEM NOT. FACIALS ARE NOT THOROUGH, NAIL PAINTING IS MESSY AND I DON'T THINK THAT WE NEED TO LIST ALL OF THE TREATMENTS THAT THERE ARE ISSUES WITH. YOU GET THE IDEA..... PLEASE PLEASE SHINE, TRAIN YOUR STAFF OR HIRE SOMEONE THAT CAN DO A GOOD JOB!!

Fantastic experience: Johiem is an absolutely fabulous stylists. As well as being a great colour & cut, he does an absolutely terrific blow dry. I have thick unmanageable hair and he always tames it making it look the natural side of salon perfect! He is also a perfectionists who gives you his total focus and a super interesting chat but very happy to let you get on with your own thing. Highly recommended. 5 stars. Best blow dry in london (coming from someone how was had a lot of blow dry's!).

Fantastic experience: I started going here initially for proximity but now I go because the staff and atmosphere are lovely. Johiem in particular is amazing (I don't really want to recommend him so publicly in case I can't get booked in with him anymore!), he has intuition and talent by the bucketload and is great at putting you at ease.

Fantastic experience: I have been to many different hairdressing salons around London (mainly in Central London and the City) and this salon is by far the best I have found. Every member of staff you come into contact with is welcoming, friendly and professional helping you to have a really relaxed and pleasant experience. Joanna has been colouring and cutting my hair for 2 years and is absolutely fantastic - really lovely and a perfectionist in a subtle way! My colour is really even and glossy and my cut is exactly what I asked for. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Shine for a couple of years, and am delighted to have found a salon I actually look forward to visiting. The atmosphere is relaxed, unpretentious and professional. The chairs you sit on for a shampoo give you a massage, which is a treat. Joheim colours and cuts my hair. He is talented, creative, interested and interesting. My 4 year old granddaughter (whose fringe he trims) informed me that he was "the best hairdresser in the whole world", and I agree with her. My experience with the beauticians I have met : Desi, Francesca and Faye, has also been excellent. I highly recommend this salon.

Fantastic experience: Salon had a very professional setting. Felt very safe and cared for & my hairdresser was well experienced and good at giving advice that was her own opinion. Very pleased :) good staff and from what I hear they have a good management and a happy workplace which is rare. Looking forward to trying out the beauty treatments as it's most definitely a nice environment and I feel trusting that the staff would do their best to make you happy!

Fantastic experience: I had my hair cut and blow dryed to perfection by Joheim and returning for the same shortly. I have used Aveda products for years and used to go to the salon in Covent Garden. How wonderful to get such fab professional care locally.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Shine ever since it opened its original branch in Stoke Newington - and have never wanted to go anywhere else. I love the place. It's a West End-quality salon in north London. Carla, one of the owners, cuts my hair and does the best, most natural highlights. I also have regular beauty treatments here, and they are consistently great, no matter which therapist you see. I had one of the best facials I've ever had with Dana recently. The recent refurbishments to the Newington Green salon just make this place better and better - it's a real treat to get your hair cut here!

Fantastic experience: This is my new favourite salon! I have been to glitzy West End salons in the past for cut and colour, but they're such a trek to get to and can be hugely over-priced. I am delighted to have found the level of service I would expect from a West End salon for a significantly more reasonable price, and the service is exceptionally good. I see Flavia for my waxing and mani-pedis, and Kate for my cut and clour. Both of them are miracle workers (I even look forward to my underarm waxing now, which is a bit weird) and Kate has made my colour look so much more natural than it did before. I am now a regular customer and can't see myself going anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Had an excellent haircut with Joheim. He did a brilliant cut on my rather uncooperative curly hair and he's a lovely chap too. Unusually for me, I'm now looking forward to my next cut. Brief interaction with the other staff was great too.

Fantastic experience: I have had my hair cut by Claire and Rita both of whom were great, and I get my hair coloured regularly by Carla who is fantastic. I love both salons - they are light and airy, there is a friendly atmosphere and they really look after their clients.

Positive experience: Had a great Medi Pedicure at Shine this wkend - very relaxing and the therapist was careful to get a nice nail shape and tidy polish. I would definitely visit again.

Negative experience: I have been going for quitea few years., but the service has got worse The receptionist is consistently rude and abrupt. This time I had a colour touch up and actually the stylist did it in such a rush that bits of my hair were left uncoloured. Really disappointing. And combined with the rude service I'd say go to another Aveda salon

Fantastic experience: I've just had a Hot Stones Reflexology with Cinnamen Johnson and I must say..that was one of the best experiences I've ever had ! The atmosphere was very relaxing and the treatment was just wonderful !! I'm feeling totally relaxed and happy and look forward to book another session very soon.

Negative experience: Really awful unwelcoming and patronising service. Do not get your hair done here. especially not by mike. I was faced with a person full of attitude and aggression and immediately felt uneasy and uncomfortable. I usually go to vidal sasson where i usually have an excellent service full of creative and enthusiastic staff who are great at communicating and discussing how best to create the hair colour/style you would like. However I did not have that here, I asked for something creative and what i got was an aggressive suggestion of something that I didnt really want. Also when my hair was finished asked for a final trim of my fringe, but it didnt go down well, I had an over dramatic response where the hairdresser said "well thats like giving you a whole new haircut." Im sorry to say but very bad experience there and its not somewhere i will be recommending to anyone who cares about there hair, and there own happiness! This may seem a bit over the top, but really, there are so many great hairdressers out there who love there job and working with people that you should save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where you can find them instead.

Fantastic experience: I really love Shine. I've been having my haircut, at both shops, for over 6 years. The concessions where you can buy Aveda and Dermalogica products are always fully stocked. The staff are so lovely, will always offer you drinks (from a proper coffee machine!). I've also had several types of massages and treatments at both shops - always excellent. My favourite Hair Stylist is Kate Neubecker - she's really amazing with colour too! I've lost count of how many times she's done my hair. I've recommended her and the salons to friends too and they visit her now too. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks Shine - one of my favourite places in London!
