The Ironworks Gymnasium

Negative experience: I went to the gym with my friend yesterday to join (he already has a membership). But the experience that I witnessed was horrible. While we were waiting at the front desk, a lady came to us and said she didn’t even ask me why I was here but started to say, "You're not supposed to go inside that if you don't have a membership," in a rude manner. I was devastated; this type of behaviour must stop. At the same time, I noticed her interacting with others in a kind manner. My friend stated that he had previously suffered similar bullying from that lady she is always behaving differently to coloured people and filed an official complaint but received no reaction. Please do not support this type of behaviour. Please do not encourage this type of behaviour in a well-established setting dedicated to people's welfare and mental health improvement. We may come there to relieve stress, not to be racially harassed or bullied. Her name plate says she is the Manager.

Fantastic experience: Amazing Gym, plenty of variety of equipment. Staff are friendly and did my free trial session would 100% Join here if I lived in the area !!

Negative experience: This gym has the potential to be the best in maidstone. Unfortunately the cheap Powerzone equipment lets it down massively. Compared to other decent equipment brands I.e Hammer strength , Technogym, Precor, Life fitness etc. The Powerzone equipment is not on the same level, the ergonomic and design are bad / cheap and don’t do the job well at all. Better to have quality than quantity. There are some Watson machines & 1 Pannata legpress which are quality and do the job well. Staff are great , location is great , loads of space just the cheap equipment is a massive let down, get some good BRANDED equipment and ironworks is number 1.

Negative experience: Great gym and nice people but sadly I will be cancelling my membership due to the fact that the benches that are with the dumbells are very insecure and they keep shaking and wobbling when I am doing incline dumbell press. I struggle to get the weights up without feeling like I am going to tip over. The welding of the metal on the bench is very bad and it would be amazing if you could get more secure benches that dont shake, then I would reconsider going back. Other than that it's a great gym but I do most of my exersises on the bench and to have benches that unsafe is very dangerous.

Fantastic experience: Plenty of equipment, big space. No changing room for men but wasn't a big issue. Lady at the Receptionist was friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic experience: Very spacious layout with plenty of equipment for all exercises! They have an on site kitchen with a chef to prepare meals for members and plenty of suppliments on hand for purchase!

Fantastic experience: This is a well stocked gym that's got great staff and amazing members who just want to see you do well. And they allow dogs so it's an extra plus

Fantastic experience: Best gym in the Maidstone area. Lots of space, good machines, lots of Deadlift platforms. Love the industrial feel. People are super friendly and everyone puts their weight back and cleans up after themselves. The attitude of people are one of the best I've ever seen.

Fantastic experience: Nearing 60 I never thought I'd be comfortable training in a gym. Well, this place has proved me wrong. James & Maggie are an excellent duo & their staff team are so friendly. The gym has a great layout which makes it feel accessible & comfortable to use and even at peak times you can still get on all the equipment you need. 10/10 recommendation. Also, the new ladies changing rooms are epic!

Fantastic experience: Brilliant facility with a large open training space and plenty of machinery . The lady managing the place was very friendly and helpful . I came to train from far away as I was visiting the area for the day. This gym has some of the best equipment about. Probably one of the best old school gyms in the country. The atmosphere was welcoming and there was definitely a good positive vibe in the place.

Fantastic experience: Having Trained at Ironworks for the best part of 7 years I can say it’s one of if not the best Gyms around for all levels of fitness, I've also introduced a few friends to the gym that had never trained consistently before and James and the team made them feel like part of the family. Great Gym, Top Quality Equipment and Most importantly the Best People.

Fantastic experience: This isn’t just a gym it feels like a family home! really enjoy the positive vibes here and the staff make it even more calming. Huge thank you’s to James for being so helpful to a gym newbie and to Mandy for showing me the ropes of how a protein shake should taste! Lots of great equipment, protein snacks and shakes and the toilets are 10/10 FANCY and CLEAN! something i’ve never seen at a gym before ❤️

Positive experience: Not great first impression from the staff but a great gym with a wide variety of equipment and health related services. I did not have a good experience with the staff. When I called prior to my trial to inquire about a specific piece of equipment. I use a 15kg bb when Olympic lifting. I am not bothered if squatting, bench or deadlifting. When calling ahead to check as many gyms do not have the 15 kg option, I was surprised at the response from the staff member. This was also reflected when I arrived at the gym. I called ahead to make sure I had what I needed for my workout. It was a waste of my time that the staff was not direct and honest that they did not have what I needed but was told to just settle for what they had. I brought own BB as I was not convinced that what I needed was available and was allowed to use my bb in the gym. However, the staff where less then helpful and I felt as though they were quite judgemental and unwilling to listen. 4 stars for the facility, services, cleanliness and value for money Losing stars for not understanding that we all train differently and that's OK!

They are continually improving and developing the gym to make it even better with their new premises they are going to be one of the greatest gyms in Kent if not the UK! Having worked in the fitness industry for 10 years now I have seen my fair share of gyms all over the world and always return here. Get down and give it a try, you won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: Ironworks is an amazing gym, the staff are friendly and welcoming and always on hand to help and advise, it’s super clean and set out well with so many machines to choose from to get the best workout possible and these are always maintained, this is truly the best gym around with the best equipment, PTs are brilliant always on hand to talk to and help out, the members are friendly no big egos in here it’s a proper community gym, plenty of supplements to choose from, coffee and chill before or after your session, they also hand a stand up sunbed available as well as various treatment rooms for physio, sports massage etc this gym really does have it all, if you haven’t been to look around or try it out I highly recommend it, this place is just constantly evolving

Negative experience: While a higher caliber gym they go through a service that makes it near impossible to terminate your membership, having to work around hour long call queues and emails that take up to ten days to reply. I also noticed on calling these people up that they were telling people there would be an auto freeze on memberships but that didn't seem to apply to the pay monthly plan I had. Nor it seems did pay monthly suggest I could indeed leave at any time. Explaining to the gym before hand that I couldn't make phone calls due to an anxiety condition (diagnosed) but that I wanted to leave apparently got me nowhere. Overall I would say an above average gym that you'll never stop paying for.

Fantastic experience: Ironworks Gymnasium is a great and friendly place to go if your looking to get tight lean muscle or bulk up and build a body shape you like with refreshments and snacks to help you find your best you. The personal trainers are some of the best and always ready to lend a hand.

The gym itself has a fantastic array of equipment, with free weights and top quality plate loaded machines. My only regret is not joining earlier. Cheers to big J and the team.

Fantastic experience: Ironworks has always been a great little gym, but now it has moved to much bigger premises, it is even better. Superb variety of equipment which is ever expanding with new pieces regularly being introduced. With PT classes to suit every level, whether 1-2-1, or in groups, this is a gym which has plenty to offer. Everybody, whether members or staff, are friendly and ever helpful. There are no egos here! Just a great run gym with s superb atmosphere.

State of the art equipment regularly new equipment pieces every couple of months, members all friendly. If never been worth checking out !
