Fantastic experience: Working with Sam has led to dropping 2 dress sizes, but it is what I’ve gained that is important. Nutritionally I’ve been fine and consistent. The hard work was dealing with the body image and food issues that I have had my entire life. The food noise and guilt has significantly reduced, the perfectionism that I measured my worth by has become self compassion and my aim of being neutral about my body seems less out of reach. The reduction in constant worry about food and body has made room for much more important things in my life. I can’t thank Sam enough for the coaching and support. Fantastic experience: Life changing might sound a little overkill but that’s exactly what this year working with Sam has been! Fantastic experience: Before I started with Sam, I was diagnosed with Lipoedema, a painful medical condition that also means I can't lose fat in certain areas of my body. It completely wiped out the little body-confidence I had, and I was in a rut mentally. I was a very active person but I struggled when it came to my diet and fuelling myself properly. Working with Sam transformed and rebuilt the way I think about my body, food, and exercise. I began to focus on wanting to get the correct nourishment from food and I learnt things like how much protein and fibre I need daily. Fantastic experience: Since childhood I've been stuck in a never-ending cycle of dieting, gaining and negativity towards my body. But working with Sam was a turning point. Fantastic experience: What a journey it has been! I went into this coaching thinking I needed some new diet to lose weight quickly, but I was so wrong. Sam has taught me a health first approach, where I have naturally felt better and dropped clothes sizes without feeling hungry and whilst fuelling my body in the healthiest way. I honestly had to change so much and trust the process as it was a far different approach to any I have tried before (I don’t weigh myself every week now!). I still have days which I would have called fail days in the past, and now I enjoy them and get back to my more nutritious eating the following day without the guilt and without the weight gain! It’s changed my relationship with food and I am still learning everyday following the techniques Sam has given me. He’s always there to ask questions if you are unsure too which is great. Fantastic experience: Sam has been invaluable when it comes to my nutrition and general well being… I think Sam would agree that i came to him with unrealistic expectations about what my body should be and how to get there!! Since having children i have struggled with PCOS and the hormone havoc that comes with it. Sam has helped me give my body what it needs in order to have regular cycles and as result came weight loss, better sleep habits and increased energy levels. He has highlighted the importance of fibre in my diet when i have been fixated on carbs and protein but most importantly Sam has helped me realise that my body has done amazing things (grown 2 healthy babies) and should be given the respect it deserves and not the harsh criticism it was getting. Fantastic experience: So before I started with Sam, I was a severe binge eater. I would eat Nutella with a spoon until I felt sick, I had chocolate with every meal and I drank red bull with my breakfast. It was awful. Physically, I was obviously struggling. My hair was falling out, I had fatigue, low self esteem due to being unhappy with my body and I needed help. In the past, I’d always gone to people who focused on my exercise and calorie deficits without really giving me any education in it. When I first joined Sam, we spent a lot of time looking into my habits and trying to work out why my behaviour was this way. For the first time in my life, I had met someone who helped me to understand macros. Even the fact that I was only eating 30g protein a day when I should have been eating 100g was new to me. I had no idea of the impact of this before. Sam’s knowledge of PCOS and the menstrual cycle was also amazing in helping me to understand my own body. We also focused on mindful eating, so that I started to listen to my body about my own hunger and needs. My binge eating reduced. I could finally leave food on my plate if I was full. I was no longer eating a whole packet of biscuits in one go. Sam provided me with a world of new knowledge, a judgement-free environment, emotional support and motivation. I no later hate my body, but I see it as a vessel that keeps me alive and that I have to fuel correctly. Thank you Sam; forever grateful.
Fantastic experience: Sam’s approach and focus on the ability to work towards a “normal” relationship with food has been the best way for me to finally start a sustainable journey towards a slimmer life. His focus on protein loading and a high fiber intake has enabled me to strike out on my own, but with the comfort of knowing that he’s always available for advise should I need some future guidance - can’t recommend enough.
Fantastic experience: Recently I was in a rut and turned to Sam to help me with my nutrition and lifestyle. Over 6 months he's helped me understand food and my motivations around food and eating. Fantastic experience: I used to struggled with my relationship with food. Fantastic experience: I reached out to Sam as I wanted help to get back in to a regular gym routine. I found that I felt out of place in a gym as I hadn't been for so long, and consequently walking in to a gym on my own felt so overwhelming! The structure and knowledge that Sam provided has really set me up to be independent and confident. Fantastic experience: Sam has been my personal health coach for a year and it has been a very positive experience. We met weekly online as I’m based in the US. He always provided useful information to read, reviewed my progress and helped set goals for the week ahead. He’s helped me change the way I think about 1) dietary value of food, specially regarding daily % of protein where I increased my from 30-80-90%. 2) building muscle for the benefit of my long term health. Sam is knowledgeable about women’s menstrual health including impact of menopause on women. I felt very comfortable talking about this with Sam, most men including doctors don’t appear to understand how to talk about the menopause despite it’s significant influence on a woman’s overall well-being. I highly recommend Sam to anyone who wants to learn how to manage their wholistic fitness e.g diet, exercise, self image, and overall health.
Fantastic experience: I didn’t feel right, was something that I couldn’t put my finger on. I did know that lockdown had sent me into a ‘spiral of gluttony’. Add to that working from home where I barely moved other than to the toilet and fridge! I knew something had to change with how I was feeling and had seen Sam on social media. I really liked the informative, positive and empathetic attitude in his posts. In what can be an intimidating industry full of ‘gym bros’ who don’t seem to understand the struggle, Sam’s approach was a breath of fresh air and one that I was comfortable buying in to. My relationship with food has changed. This by all means wasn’t over night, but with education and context I have had the mental shift I’ve been trying to make for years. The art of balance has clicked and I am kinder on myself whilst making much better choices. The key to these things is sustainability and with what Sam has taught me about nutrition has taught me how to be consistent. Also, I’m no longer drawn solely to the cardio equipment out of fear of the weights section! I am confident going into the gym and knowing EXACTLY what to do, how to do those things safely with good form and to do so with confidence. Fantastic experience: Before starting with Sam, I honestly couldn't tell you a time when I wasn't on a "diet". You name it, I had tried it and yet always found myself back to square one. Nothing was long lasting and it made me miserable. Since a young age, I have always felt self conscious and hated the way I looked. Over the years, I have been fixated on my weight, obsessed about the number on the scales. I had an unhealthy relationship with food and was in the mindset of all or nothing, (I couldn't find a healthy balance). Since I joined, I haven't looked back once! My lifestyle has changed but definitely hasn't suffered because of it. I was the girl that went out every weekend drinking and, as a result, I was left feeling miserable for the rest of the week. If I didn't go out then I would have thought my weekend had been wasted! I still go out now but not to the extent I did before. My weekends are so much more meaningful and fulfilled. If someone told last year that I would be spending time in the gym on a weekend or in a morning, I would have laughed! It would have been unheard of stepping foot in the gym alone without a friend. I now look forward to going to the gym and working to get stronger rather than to lose weight. My goals have completed shifted and I am no longer obsessed with how much I weigh. Week by week Sam and I have worked together to set small goals which have resulted in positive changes. I am continuously learning new things and enjoying the journey. Sam has made me feel at ease and he is very realistic and non judgemental. He understands that I still need a social life and he works with me to make these small changes that have a huge impact on my life in the long term. The biggest and best thing about my journey is that my mental health and self esteem has improved massively, I am starting to like who I am! I am still on my journey and have a long way to go but I am enjoying the process and I am excited to continue to work with Sam. Fantastic experience: Before my journey began with Sam, I had no confidence in myself. I hated looking in the mirror, it always kept me down, I didn’t feel healthy anymore and I know I needed to make a change for myself and to be a role model for my children. I had no knowledge about nutrition or exercise even though I used to be a big gym freak in my younger days. I felt disconnected with myself and how to look after my health properly. Fantastic experience: Before I started with Sam I would go in the gym a couple times a week, I’d even worked with a PT at one point, but I didn’t see any progress or change with my shape or weight. Last summer whilst on holiday I felt the least confident I had ever been. From the beach, I decided to contact Sam, mainly because the advice he was sharing on his social media made so much sense but also because I felt that he was someone who was compassionate, had a good sense of humour and was fully invested in his clients. Since being with Sam I have completely changed my view on health and fitness. It’s not just about losing weight for me anymore (although during my journey so far I have completely changed my body shape, losing just over 3 stone ☺️). I now have so much more energy, feel less stressed and sleep better. I feel confident training in the gym and I have a good understanding of nutrition. Fantastic experience: I've just completed a 4-week Learn to Lift workshop with Sam. Rather than just telling the group what to do, Sam has spent time teaching us the fundamentals and educating us so we understand the 'why' and not just 'what'. I have learned a lot around technique as well as gaining confidence for the next time I set foot in a gym - I actually feel like I know what to do!! Sam is clearly very knowledgeable, he has a unique and fun teaching style and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him!
Fantastic experience: Worked with Sam for several months remotely online starting in the lockdown without ever meeting him in person. However, with his guidance and support via FaceTime managed to lose 2 stone and dramatically change my body shape. Fantastic experience: My time working with Sam over the past 6 months has been so beneficial to my health and well-being. The on-line sessions have been a fantastic learning curve on improving my sleep, nutrition, fitness and to improve my overall wellbeing regarding my joint pains. As a sufferer of a long term illness who frequently attends hospital appointments, on my last appointment my consultant is happy to report that my inflammatory markers are now within normal range and my joints are 5/5. My GP is also happy that at the beginning of my journey I was pre-diabetic but my blood glucose is now normal. Sam deserves every praise for the difference he has made to my health. I have also had a significant weight loss during my time with Sam. Sam’s knowledge and expertise regarding, health, nutrition and fitness is incredible and his approach and encouragement during these sessions has been inspiring.
Fantastic experience: I have just finished a six month online personal training course with Sam. As I have limited time available the weekly zoom sessions have been so accessible to fit into my busy life. Fantastic experience: I undertook this course with sam recently, he is an excellent trainer/motivator, v, v knowledgeable and a (really nice guy to boot). I really enjoyed his tutorials, instructional videos and training routines, they are in my humble opinion quite cutting edge, as they delve into the science and psychology of the topics, ie the importance of adequate sleep patterns in the health cycle. I've attended gyms previously and enjoyed these experiences, but sams approach is light years ahead in the fact that he gives you the science behind the exercise and more. Highly recommended. 10/10.
Fantastic experience: I've just completed 6 months health and wellbeing support by Sam, meeting him regularly online and using apps to record my progress which Sam can also view to keep an eye on my progress! It's been amazing and life changing. He's so knowledgeable and supportive which has inspired me to keep going. I am now far more aware of what nutrition I need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and even though I feel I eat more than I did before I started I've actually lost weight and my body shape has changed for the better as a result of the nutrition advice and regular exercises that Sam set me. It's something I've wanted to achieve for a long time but I don't think I could ever have done it without Sam's knowledge and support.
Fantastic experience: Sam was brilliant from the first contact right until the end check in. His nutrition and food knowledge is amazing and that really helped with my results. Fantastic experience: I have known Sam personally for a number of years but have only recently started to use his professional services. Sam has helped me to put some structure into my food and exercise in a way that puts me in control. Since working with Sam to track my food in a non obsessive way I am definitely eating less but not in a way that means I have to eat less of what I enjoy. I have never enjoyed going to the gym and lockdown put a stop to this changing but by using the online service with Sam I have still been able to exercise regularly at home using the structure Sam has put in place. It doesnt feel like a diet so is so much easier to maintain. As someone who was completely anti-exercise, I have finally found exercise I enjoy and that I can see working for me. Fantastic experience: Sam Jones Fitness, what can I say? The structure both nutritionally and exercise wise has been an invaluable lesson that I have learnt through Sam. I have always struggled with the nutrition side of weight loss, however Sam’s easy to follow advice, and simple logging where you can eat ‘normal’ food and alcohol, as well as creating a personal weight based training plan that isn’t daunting to do alone, (no more torture running on a treadmill and seeing no body change!) Within weeks of having hourly sessions with Sam I had become physically stronger, and started to see a big change in my body shape. It’s a breathe of fresh air to not be constantly getting on the scales to see if I had ‘lost weight’ as the complements I get from friends and family and most importantly when I catch myself in the mirror just puts a smile on my face. Sam is very patient, calm, non judgmental and all the PT sessions are always filled with laughter. You always know where you are with nutrition and workout plans. Sam also offers support through a members only FB group where Sam’s clients, if they want to, can all communicate and motivate each other too. DW gym staff and other members are very friendly and helpful, if you ever need assistance with anything staff and other gym members are always happy to help.
Fantastic experience: Before meeting Sam, i thought that the best way to loose weight and increase my physical health was to go straight to cardio and spend an hour on the treadmill. But doing this didn’t make me feel like my workouts were going anywhere. So, after being recommended to meet with Sam by a friend, I’ve been introduced to a much happier and for myself, healthier way of both working out and managing my food/nutritional aspect. With that in mind, before working with Sam, I believed that starving myself and eating nothing that involves anything remotely bad for my body was the way to go. Once again, I was miserable, aiming to eat the smallest amount of food possible each day. With Sam, he’s introduced me to new foods and proteins that actually fill me and he encourages me to have cheat meals and to eat the cake if I want it. Teaching me that as long as my weekly calorie intake is within my high boundary of 1700, then food is food. And I can’t express it enough how much this has increased my quality of embracing this lifestyle change and the path he’s helped build for me. I can actually eat a takeaway and not feel bad about it, as long as I log it correctly into my fitness pal. The workouts themselves are brilliant, with Sam building them around both my strengths and weaknesses, improving and changing different exercises as my body’s capabilities improves. Sam, as a PT, is down to earth and having originally believed I’d be intimidated, I can honestly say that since day one, it felt like I’ve known him for years. He’s the easiest person to get on with and I’m not worried about being honest about my goals or thoughts with how our work is going. Overall, I can’t recommend him enough. Whether you want to loose weight or tone up, Sam is amazing and will embrace you and your goals with open arms.
Fantastic experience: I'd been using the gym for years & yet my body fat just kept on increasing. Through Sam Jones Fitness I've been educated about my calorie intake and how to train properly. I'm not on a diet & yet I've lost 3&1/2 stone in 6 months! I know how to exercise properly so I enjoy my gym sessions & am confident that I know what I'm doing at the gym & to get the most out my workouts. Sam is a great PT - he's so knowledgeable about what he does & is so easy to get on with. He's great at helping you to get the best out of you. I'm now fitter, thinner, have more muscle definition & have more energy than I've had for years! The results speak for themselves & I cannot recommend Sam highly enough.
Fantastic experience: Until I met Sam I was that girl who was constantly on a ‘diet’ but could never lose weight. I was so fed up of doing the same cardio routine at the gym over and over again and I was in a really negative headspace about the way my body looked. Sam taught me how to structure my workouts and my diet so that they’re realistic and achievable. I still eat chocolate and I drink nearly every weekend, but I’ve still lost weight. I’m never bored of the gym because every workout is different and I’m really enjoying weight training. Logging my food and workouts online is so helpful and easy.
Fantastic experience: I went to Sam for a nutrition consultation for advice on macronutrient goals, despite going to the gym regularly I was never sure of my calorie goals, Sam spent an hour with me explaining how to work them out so in the future I can do it for myself, he also showed me how to use my fitness pal properly and gave me a copy of his ebook for free, would highly recommended him
Fantastic experience: For years I’ve struggled with my weight, and with the lifestyle I live I’ve always just gave up. I’m a football fan that watches my team every week, with that comes alcohol, rubbish food and all in all weight gain. But like every person that wants to lose weight I tried to ‘diet’ and eat well Monday to Friday eating what I thought was healthy and good foods. The weight never came off. Sam introduced me to a way to help me lose weight without having to sacrifice my whole lifestyle. Logging your food, counting calories and banking calories for when you know your going to have that day/days of eating or drinking what you want. I’ve lost weight, looked the best I’ve looked in years. And people that think that you need to smash the gym to lose weight are also wrong. Due to a back injury I’ve not been able to go to the gym. So my 3+ stone weight loss has come from purely the way Sam has shown me. Sam’s a realist and understands peoples lifestyles and he works around that. I’d recommend Sam to anyone.
Fantastic experience: I went to Sam for a nutrition consult for advice on weight loss after achieving minimal results myself, despite going to the gym regularly and calorie counting. Sam spent an hour explaining the importance of accuracy when using my fitness pals, running through the key concepts of being in a calorie deficit and describing where I had been going wrong so far. Sam was really informative, kept things simple so that I didn’t come away feeling bombarded with info and was really attentive to my specific goals. I even came away with a handy little e-book incase I forgot anything. Would highly recommend :)
Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Sam for over 2 years now and I have learned so much. The key thing instilled has been structure from both a nutrition and exercise point. Daily logging is now part of what I do and keeps me focused on what I am doing in the gym and eating. At the same time Sam understands that you might want to go out and watch the football and have a few beers and how having a balance is also key to being able to maintain focus and structure. Sam is a great motivator in the gym and i would recommend Sam to anyone who wants to be able to achieve their goals.
Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Sam for many reasons. I shall try to cover them all. First of all his knowledge of nutrition is just mind blowing especially for me, I really struggle to eat enough, like a lot of women I feel if I eat more than 1.000 cal I’m going to get fat. Now Sam has been very patient with me knowing my struggles and through his knowledge and understanding of diet and fitness he has /is helping me to eat right for my body. And even when I have a panic because I’ve stood on the scales and message him, he’s straight on the phone to reassure me. No other pt I’ve known has done that. Secondly his structure around the gym makes the gym sessions feel easy to do as in you know what your doing , there’s no embarrassment when you stand at the equipment because he has shown me exactly what to do and with his supporting videos just in case you do forget .... you really can’t go wrong. Also he’s funny, not to serious unless it’s needed! I have fun in the gym and I’m finally enjoying eating.
Fantastic experience: Sam is great! He is friendly, approachable and puts you at ease in a foreign environment! (I am no gym bunny) He is super knowledgeable, with an excellent understanding of nutrition, exercise and their relationship. Fantastic experience: Sam was recommended to me back in January this year, and since then he has helped me to develop a healthy attitude to both fitness and nutrition. Fantastic experience: Sam is definitely the best personal trainer I’ve ever had. He educates you about healthy eating and your body’s needs, as well as pushing you to work hard in the gym. He also gives you structure and helps make your final goal achievable if you put the necessary work in. My current goal is simply to feel comfortable and happy in my body by losing fat and gaining muscle by Christmas, and I know with Sam’s help I’ll get there.
Fantastic experience: I have been training with Sam now for nearly 3 months and in that short amount of time I have already seen improvements. He has educated me in not only to exercise properly using machines and form etc but also on nutrition and how you should eat. You can still eat normal foods and still get results. Fantastic experience: Sam has turned me into the boss of my own fitness! I lacked a lot of knowledge in regards to my nutrition and the exercises for my body type that I felt dizzy and weak all the time. Fantastic experience: I have been training with Sam for nearly 18 months. I initially signed up for PT sessions with Sam because my best friend had been training with him and the results she was getting were (and still are) incredible. Now through training with Sam I am seeing my own results. Sam has educated me on how to use the free weights and machines confidently giving me a structured work out plan, which is also flexible and most importantly enjoyable. Sam loves the word "balance" when it comes to promoting food. Even when I was on the lowest calorie count I have never felt like I was dieting. As long as what I eat fits my calorie allowance and protein intake then nothing is off the table... #balance. I see myself continuing my training sessions for the foreseeable future with Sam, however when the day comes where I feel I can go it alone I will be doing so confidentially with 100's of different exercises and knowledge on how to properly fuel my body and that is all down to the time and effort Sam has put into educating me. If you are looking for a PT who is passionate about his job, who genuinely cares for the well being of his clients and helping them reach their full potential then I would highly recommend Sam Jones.
Fantastic experience: Sam has created an excellent format that promotes a regular gym routine that is supported by a regular balanced food intake. There is no 'diet' term used in this, as what Sam promotes is a structured and balanced diet. No food is banned (none). Sam's gym routine uses a personalised gym plan linked to a list of all workouts with supporting videos to ensure correct form. It is easy to go into any gym and blast through your work out whilst keeping a tight record of your performances. If you are looking for change, then Sam is the man to help you get on a new track.
Fantastic experience: Been training with Sam now for nearly a year, been with two other pt's before but they don't match up to Sam's standards. He has brilliant Knowledge of nutriation and exercise which I have now adopted and his sessions are not only structured but fun as well. Would recommend to anyone who wants to change and improve.
Fantastic experience: Before Sam I hadn’t lasted longer than about 3 months in the gym before getting bored and ‘falling off the wagon’. I always went on ‘diets’ and went to the gym with no idea about what I was doing. Now I have complete structure in what I’m eating and how I’m exercising! I’ve literally never felt more in control. Plus having all of my exercises and sessions online alongside his recipes on his site makes the whole process so easy to follow. I’ve been continuously going to the gym and eating well whilst enjoying occasional treats and meals out for over 7 months now! Sam has helped me finally make it a habit I can’t recommend him enough!
