Negative experience: Been a member for multiple years, as it’s convenient and with a pool and sauna in the city center. However it’s fairly pricey and maintenance of the equipment and of the sauna is not just satisfactory for the price they offer. Multiple machines are on maintenance lately, reducing the availability and at peak time is mania, too many people for the equipment available. The sauna has now been out of service for over a month. Staff is welcoming and overall the gym is clean very frequently which is nice

Fantastic experience: Outstanding Care and Kindness at Nuffield Health Aberdeen – Thank You, Chelsea I’d like to share my deep appreciation for a member of staff at Nuffield Health Aberdeen. On Wednesday night, after spending some time relaxing in the steam room and pool, I began to feel unwell in the changing room. I experienced sudden chest pain and felt overwhelmed and scared. Thankfully, one of the cleaning staff noticed something wasn’t right and quickly alerted the receptionist, Chelsea. She came to check on me right away and I truly can’t thank her enough for how she handled the situation. Chelsea was incredibly professional, calm, and kind. Her presence alone was reassuring—she stayed with me, brought me water, and made sure I felt as safe and comfortable as possible while we waited for the ambulance. In such a frightening moment, her compassion and care made all the difference. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her support. I’m usually quite honest when it comes to feedback, and in this case, I want to be equally honest about how grateful I am. Chelsea went above and beyond, and it deserves to be recognised. Thank you so much, Chelsea—you truly made a scary moment much easier to face.

Positive experience: Good location, friendly staff, diverse group classes and good size swimming pool. ( Really good Pilates class). It would be good to remind people to shower after using the steam / sauna room before entering the pool.

Positive experience: I joined this gym because it was local to me and also because it had a swimming pool which is rare in Aberdeen city however it’s a pretty tired gym. I mainly use the swimming facilities and the steam room and the sauna, which has been out of action for about six weeks and really that’s just not good enough. There should be. 48 hour standard to get it fixed. The staff are great, facilities could be great but needs a bit of investment. The swimming costume machine doesn’t work properly and there’s a bucket underneath it catch in the water. I think this is a waterborne health issue and I’d like something done about that. The drinking water machine in the gym in the swimming pool in the changing rooms is out of action for a 6 months. This place needs a good bit of investment to just get up to scratch because it’s really not good enough.

While we would ideally like to have repairs completed within 48 hours, the extent of the work required for the sauna is unfortunately far more complex. It involves a full refurbishment of the cabin and lighting system, and we are currently awaiting the necessary parts to complete the job. The good news is that once finished, the sauna will be restored to a much higher standard for all members to enjoy. We completely understand that three weeks without a sauna is a long time, and we hope you've been able to make use of the pool and steam room in the meantime.

Positive experience: I've been a member for a couple of months now. The equipment space is ok, not many varieties of new machines, they all look used and frequently they are under maintenance (so you can't use and there is only one type of that machine). Never spoken to any staff other than the always welcoming receptionists. Every time I go in there is someone cleaning either floor, equipment, or changing rooms, and the overall cleanliness is good. Except for the space for you to exercise without any equipment by the stairs is always dirty, I don't think those mattresses were ever taken off to clean underneath. The only thing that is quite unsatisfactory is opening timings. It closes at 10 pm on weekdays and 8 pm on weekends and holidays. This makes absolutely no sense to me, the pool area closes half an hour early (for practical reasons). I don't think is cheap for what they offer, I only go for convenience and because I have a discount. There is a lot that can be improved.

Positive experience: It’s a basic gym but it really needs an update and something I’d always broken. If it wasn’t for its convenient location I would gladly go somewhere else
Fantastic experience: The joint pain programme (free ) or referred by your docs was very helpful & informative and its really helped me get back to a level of fitness that I can handle and managing my pain.I was apprehensive as I tried various programs before with no progress so this was the last resort .My trainer was Ellie Alexander Rehabilitation Specialist who puts you at ease whilst encouraging you to do more. ellie was quite clear and made breakdowns of each exercise easier. Ellie was quite clear in the written sessions and I felt at ease listening to her and understanding what I can do to make myself feel better. Overall I feel 100% better and thank Ellie Alexander for pushing me forward nathan for giving me a plan to strengthen and feel better the staff are always encouraging you on thanks, nuffield aberdeen.

Positive experience: I have been a member for a long time and only continue as it’s near work and home. Pros- Space in main gym is good and mostly get on machines as plenty. Staff are nice. Morning music is good and loud enough to hear. Car park. Lots classes. Available pool. Cons- Miss towels as not convenient to carry one and other stuff for work, so never use pool now. I had a membership that included a towel but didn’t reduce when they stopped, just increases. Screens on machines hardly work, tvs on wall some without subtitles, only 3 rowing machines and they face a brick wall, not very motivating and boring, could you either move them or put a working tv in front of them. Evening music can hardly be heard, best turn up or turn it off. When doing an work on small mat the lights above are all eye level, could bulbs be less glare Overall I think it’s getting overpriced for facilities and only stay as convenient, would move if another gym was available

Positive experience: Friendly caring staff always willing to assist. Unfortunately the fitness area and swim area is looking tired. It’s needs a revamp, painting, freshened up.
Positive experience: I have been a member for a few years now as it's close to my house and get a corporate discount. Pros: parking, gym area is big with lots of equipment, rarely too busy or any wait for machines, has a pool and sauna etc. The cons: a lot of the equipment is quite old/tired looking, they put the prices up regularly whilst reducing services (removed hot tub, no free towels). Removed all the scales in the changing rooms, etc. Often, way too hot in the gym for my liking, aircon isn't needed as we're in Aberdeen, open the windows! Overall, it's an ok gym if you live close and can get a good corporate discount. There are also classes, but I've never been, so I can't comment on them

Positive experience: Please could you make sure that all members AND day pass users are aware of good pool hygiene and can actually read!!! Absolutely sick of the pool being used as a plunge pool, Many don’t bother showering between sauna/steam room, despite a huge notice right in front of those facilities Swimmers who do actually pay to use the club are left swimming around in sweaty bacterial soup, it’s disgusting Today, there were cans of Redbull on the side of the pool! I do like this club , I enjoy the facilities, and the staff are great.

Positive experience: As a member for some years, I was able to make use of some paid personal training sessions with a PT which greatly improved my confidence in using the gym equipment and knowing my capabilities. I was also glad to be able to access regular review sessions too. I would have loved to be able to attend more classes, but my own availability has been limited in the last couple of years, for family reasons. I feel the gym could do with some minor improvements in general, and I noticed in recent months that one machine remained in poor working order for some time with one part broken. Generally I found staff to be available and attentive when necessary.

Fantastic experience: I've been training with Keiren for a year and cannot recommend him enough. I've seen a lot of progress since then. Keiren is very friendly and keeps me accountable, taking his time to understand goals, fitness level and limitations. He is very knowledgeable in terms of fitness and nutrition and tailors the training plans to be challenging and motivating.

Negative experience: Save your money and go elsewhere! Very tired and old gym with antiquated equipment , truly not worth the extortionate monthly subscription price. The changing rooms and are always dirty and frequently have a bad smell. Staff and generally unhelpful. The car park is hardly ever open. Opening times are quite restrictive, closing early on weekends. Save your money and go elsewhere, you can pay a fraction of the price at pure gym and get more modern equipment, a cleaner gym and 24/7 availability.
Positive experience: Staff friendly and helpful, no complaints there. Good location too. But the quality of the gym compared to the price you’re charged per month is very poor. I’ve only been a member a few months but even on my first day all ladies toilets were out of order. This is the case very frequently. There’s at least one constantly out of order. The swimming costume drying machine is out of order a lot too as well as machines upstairs in the gym. It seems like issues get a patch job when realistically it would probably be better in the long run to just buy new equipment. The steam room out of order a few times which isn’t good as it’s a feature you want to be working so you can relax after a long day or hard workout. There’s no jacuzzi which is something I’m still gutted about but I came to terms with it. There is always a cleaner in the ladies changing room but I feel like things haven’t been deep cleaned in a while, there’s rust on all the shower heads. The girls bathrooms also don’t have any hot water coming out the taps and this is freezing during the winter. Doesn’t make sense why there wouldn’t be hot water. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, a few members chatting in the sauna were complaining about the state of some of the gym machines, in particular the rowing machine which apparently doesn’t run to its full potential because it’s full of dust. They also complained about how membership was going up at the start of the year and facilities weren’t up to a good standard. Nothing against the staff but the whole gym seriously needs to reinvest their funds into repairing things properly or just replacing them. Also not a massive deal but half the machines don’t have signal on the screens so you’re just staring at a static screen saying ‘no signal’. And one of the TVs on the walls by the clock has never worked in the time I’ve been there. Can’t be that expensive to buy a new one.
Negative experience: Unreasonably high prices. Always dirty , disrespectful to customers. Will not suggest to go there.

Negative experience: Terrible lack of facilities given the higher than average price of a membership. They promote themselves as one of the more luxury gyms however, the equipment is average at best. There is a strong foul odor in the pool area which is totally repulsive. The facilities on offer are nothing special either. No jacuzzi for example. The range of equipment in the gym is okay but again, very average. Don't recommend. Not worth the money. Do recommend Banantyne Gym - has jacuzzi, better equipped gym, doesn't stink, spa and wellness treatments, cheaper membership. PureGym - better equipped gym, cleaner, cheap, doesn't stink, 24/7 availability

Fantastic experience: Been a member for a few months now. I think the gyms great, I literally refused to even set foot in a gym before as I had 0 confidence but I’ve been training with Keiren. I honestly can’t explain how life changing it’s been, I actually choose the gym over swimming now which I never expected going into this. Very good at understanding limits but pushing me out my comfort zone. I have great confidence going in alone now too. All staff are happy to help and good chat. Pools a good size and great temperature.

Fantastic experience: Really great gym and facilities - the staff are always so friendly and helpful and the members are very welcoming, especially to new people which is great as going somewhere new can be daunting! The pool facilities are lovely, the gym is never too busy to get a decent workout done and the kit is in very good condition. It's really handy to have somewhere in the city centre that offers so much - gym, pool and wetside facilities, classes, physio, mental wellbeing and a health assessment clinic, it really provides people with a holistic health solution centrally.

Fantastic experience: This gym and its facilities are excellent. The location is perfect and there’s plenty of equipment to choose from, including during peak times. There’s a wide range of classes available and the instructors are fantastic. The rest of the team have always been really helpful and friendly too. The pool is ideal and we’ve never had any issue accessing a lane when needed at different times and days of the week. During periods where children can access the pool, (and they should have access to the pool regularly), there is always a couple of lanes available to use for others. If you ever have to wait a short time, you can enjoy using the sauna and steam room. Nothing to fault at all and have recommended to friends who enjoy going too.

Negative experience: Place is a joke. Signed up on the basis of being told being told the jacuzzi was opening . One year later they cemented over it. This gym has a monopoly over city centre and so does not care one bit about customer satisfaction or cleanliness /maintenance. Most of the staff don’t use the gym themselves so instead of there being a nice gym ethos/ atmosphere . You have some blank stare from Emily on arrival and then the am manager Steven swanning about like he owns the place. A couple of staff members I have spoken to have also confirmed he makes the gym Not a nice place to work and is always on some power trip. Go to a proper gym where you custom is valued . Anytime u complain about anything they pull the “were a charity “ card despite the GM earning over 50k it’s laughable
Hi Euan, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to read you are not enjoying your club membership. Unfortunately, for sustainability reasons, we made the tough decision to close our spa pools, across our estate, in February 2023. They were initially closed in September 2022 (due to the energy crisis) and whilst the plan was to review operations, we did come to the decision that these were not environmentally sustainable. As you have stated, we are trading charity and any savings made from this decision have been reinvested into club operational costs and to further support our community programmes.
Whilst we don’t comment on our staffing costs, our senior club team receive salaries in line with fitness industry standards and for their additional responsibilities of also managing a clinic. Negative experience: Totally agree with previous bad reviews. The gym is very outdated and overcrowded. By the time you get to the gym after work the pool facilities are inaccessible due to the amount of children who go straight after school with their parents. It is overpriced with hardly any member benefits and the changing rooms and equipment are run down. Would not recommend. There are far better options out there. It's a shame as I am sure it was a very good gym a few years ago.

Negative experience: By far the worst gym I’ve ever been a member of- do NOT join whatever you do. PureGym has more equipment, is half the price and is 24 hours (not closing at 8pm on weekends); please check them out if you are considering being a member here. This gym has the rudest staff I’ve ever encountered at a gym. The car park is shut for ~8 weeks, so the only time parking is free in the area is after 8pm, otherwise I’d have to pay £5 a day on top of the membership fee to park; so my only option is to come after that time on weekdays. The guy with the curly hair and leggings skulks around 15 minutes before closing time every time he’s on shift and starts turning the lights off in a deliberately passive aggressive way to shoo people out (I wish I could try to leave work 15 minutes early.) 15 minutes before closing time he turned one light off in the area I was exercising in, and when I was stretching 8 minutes before closing time he turned all of the lights off in the area I was in so it was completely dark, but kept them on for the guy he was chatting with earlier who was exercising in another area. When I went to the changing room to get my bag, the girl with the dyed black hair shut the locker with my coat in it while I was getting my things together, and rudely told me the club is closed (when it just hit 10pm on the dot.) I’ve been a member of David Lloyd in the past and the staff never, ever behaved in this way- but then again, this club is nowhere near the same standard. On another occasion, the male cleaner with a beard rolled his eyes and made a face like a petulant teenager when he stopped vacuuming for 30 seconds when I bought a padlock at the front desk. Staff aside, the club is terrible in terms of facilities- it has the bare minimum equipment, none of which justifies the membership fee- as mentioned earlier, Anytime Fitness and even PureGym are half the price and are MUCH better. The equipment is constantly breaking because it’s so cheap. Even the changing rooms are poor quality- the cubicle curtain is so thin that you can see directly through it. The shower cubicles are transparent. All the staff members constantly look miserable (I would be too if I worked at such a terrible gym), with the exception of Tony and Max and the cleaners (apart from the one) who are the only ones who are friendly and professional. The club is very outdated and I don’t see this particular branch surviving in the era of cheap 24/7 gyms with better equipment- the remnants of the café in the entrance tell a story in itself. Fantastic experience: Very good facilities and chilled friendly staff who make you feel welcome. Think there's unfairly negative reviews here as I had more negative experiences in other health clubs of Aberdeen but this has been the best. Relatively quiet at the right times at the pool so not overly chaotic. Good classes too, even yin yoga which is perfect for my health condition Nice community in general here!

Negative experience: I was a member of Neffields around 8 years ago, brilliant place to go, joined again recently and i can honestly say it's gone down hill from what it used to be, Tile's missing off the walls, No Towels, No Spa, also now you have to supply your own padlock for the lockers (Wasn't told about this when i joined & had to go to B&Q on my first day to purchase a lock as they don't sell any, so frustrating) also didn't see any pool attendant standing by the pool incase of an incident, so looks like they maybe short staffed, will be cancelling my membership & going elsewhere which is a shame, as i had high hopes for this place & it's close to my home

We are transitioning to a new locking mechanism in our changing rooms and, as a business, have removed spa pools from our centres. Negative experience: Within 5 month experience our family had a number of discrimination by gym staff in different ways. Our child was also treated in bad manner by staff few times. We even catch them in deception when they were bad behaved to our child, good it was so obvious and they can't hide it. Each time we tried to discuss those issues with management, suddenly the management don't have the managers skills to handle it. Most staff in gym are not helpful. They only help if you take private classes. In overall the staff performance very poor. The facility yes, in bad condition. Many lockers are broken. Pool within this period was clean maybe twice. We were disappointed that we waste our time waiting and given them time on improvement.

Negative experience: Not worth what they charge, also you’re attached to them for the membership. It’s like impossible to cancel, and they make everything hard and charges hidden fees. Won’t recommend at all.

Negative experience: Not worth the money. Pool area does not always feel very clean. Particularly the showers. They have closed down the spa, which for me is a vital part of a club like this. Reason given is the fight against climate change…

Positive experience: Swimming pool facilities are great. My only complaints are that the mens showers never smell clean, like they've not been cleaned properly in a long time. Could do with a good bleaching... The Nuffield website also states towels are provided with membership but I was informed by staff that they no longer do this.

Fantastic experience: Ive been a nuffield member for a couple of years now and only really did my own thing as I was always self conscious but starting personal training with Joe has pretty much changed my life. I've finally found a hobby that keeps me interested and in competition with myself. I'd seen other people I know lifting weights etc and never imagined that I'd be any good at it. Joe's helped me build confidence I never thought I'd have and lift weight I never imagined I could. I cant wait to continue and see what I achieve!
Fantastic experience: Great gym with good facilities. Been doing personal training with Joe for the last few months now who has taught me so much in such a short space of time. Look forward to my sessions each week and get stronger with every one. Joe tailors each session to my individual needs and I can see results already. Would definitely recommend his PT services.
Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at this gym with Ellie being very professional and helpful throughout. She made me feel comfortable during the session and provided very helpful fitness tips. Very clean gym too.
Fantastic experience: I've been going to Nuffield and training with Joe since September and so far the experience has been top class. Joe has been really motivational and is always keen to take it up a notch to keep things challenging. Previously with gyms I've been bad for just doing cardio but thanks to Joe I now feel confident and comfortable to hit weight training as well. Can't thank him enough for helping me build strength, stamina and confidence (and also for putting up with all my newbie questions!). The gym itself is great with plenty of equipment and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Big shout out to the cleaning team as well for helping to keep us safe as we continue to live with COVID-19. Would highly recommend the gym and training with Joe to anyone!
Negative experience: Over priced gym with poor reinvestment. Claim to listen to member feedback but only if it fits their bias. Better off at pure gym and saving yourself £30 a month.

Fantastic experience: Cool gym
Negative experience: I have been in the gym once with one of my friends. The machines were fine but I gave 2 stars because I had to pay 15£ (!) for a day pass! They said I just need to pay 9£ if we buy the pass online but we couldn't do it at all... By the way... Why is it most cheaper when you buy through online? Totally nonsense... Ohhh, and another thing: the receptionist didn't show use how to use the lockers only when I went back and asked him.
Positive experience: Nice to see the Nuffield providing an authentic experience of the Doha World Athletics Championships by having the gym temperature at 24 degrees C !!!!!!

Negative experience: This one-star review mostly reflects my experience with very unfriendly and unhelpful management and Nuffield policy against using credit cards or cash for payments (my case, and I suppose the case of many foreigners like myself without a UK bank account.) Also: DO NOT buy into the MOT Health, it was really sloppy and misleading in my case. On the plus side, the instructors are very friendly, energetic and knowledgeable. I´ll miss their classes. If only the management were more flexible and accommodating!
Negative experience: Nice gym, swimming pool etc but the booking system is frustrating. I took out a gym membership as my lifestyle doesn’t suit prebooked classes and I liked that you could just turn up to see what classes were available. A year in and they enforced a booking system whereby you have to book 8 days In advance. If you can’t make it you get 3 strikes and out. I just received a strike as I got to a class literally 60 seconds late and was refused entry. It makes a part of my life which is supposed to be stress free, fun and relaxed into a really negative and stressful experience.
Positive experience: Nuffield Gym Aberdeen, great gym, great grumpy staff!!!! Café ...no service!!! Thumb down.
Fantastic experience: Always very clean. Free parking and free towels. Plenty of choice in the gym and good variety of classes. Pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Always a friendly welcome.

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym I've ever been to, and I've been to quite a lot. I'm talking not only about excellent facilities and well organised classes, but most of all about exceptional customer service. These people are amazing and they really care! Highly recommended.

Positive experience: Great Place, But Pricey for annual membership, they need to get some maintenance done on some of the equipment, as in some of the Screens on the running machines are not working, thats why only 4 stars from me
Fantastic experience: Although not the cheapest gym in Aberdeen ,in my mind they are certainly the best. Knowledgeable staff and very helpful. More than just exercise classes, there are physio's, educational health events and even Health Mentors!!
Negative experience: The gym is quite big andall.the facilities are great such as the pool and machines but when i finished my trial the price was about £54! I tried asking for a student one and that was more expensove so i reccomend not going here and the trial was atleast only 3days
